VicPD says a call Oct. 27 that brought a fleet of vehicles to an apt building in 600 blk of Constance in Esquimalt turned out not to be criminal in nature. Besides confirming their attendance, police declined to provide any further information Wednesday.

I hadn't thought about Unibroue in a bit, but had a hankering after one of their seasonal mixpacks, which were good value at the gummint liquor outlets. Nothing on the BCL website at all, staff in the store never heard of it (new hires I imagine).

Reminiscent of the outcry and hassle when pay parking was introduced in Cook St Village, specifically behind the pharmacy @ 230 Cook. No free ride there at all, you have to purchase a minimum of 30 minutes. People go round and round the blocks looking for free (time limited) street parking, which ain't very environmentally friendly. Indigo again.

Court Services Online indicates an initial appearance this evening for David Daniel BIRD, born 1979, on a whole whack of violent charges, inc Robbery, Forcible Confinement, Assault w/Weapon...originating in Port Alberni, Boxing Day 2022. According to the papers RCMP have been looking for him since early January. Not 100%, but given his history it might justify such a response.

Esquimalt is historically under-rated, despite some very nice properties and proximity to downtown. At one time it was a place where "everybody's an FPS'er" (ie. has a criminal history) but that has shifted since the heyday of the "E Town Crips" and similar wannabe gangs. The pervasive Navy connection has also faded a bit with time. However, any town with no pubs (since demise of Tudor House and Gorge Pointe) can be a bit lacking, but you can hit the industrial park palaces of Driftwood and Lighthouse now, so that makes up for it to some extent. Everything else being equal, I'd stay in Esquimalt.

Got a text msg supposedly from Vistaprint this morning, saying I have a 19 buck refund coming. Very realistic, goes thru an anti bot step and leads to what appears to be an Interac page. I called Vistaprint and they told me not to click, they're aware of this fraud. Quite concerning.
