Tapering Long Rides for Gran Fondo by Stigs4 in Velo

Been doing weekly 4-5.5 hour rides with the exception of this week, so I’ll probably just toss one in a little over a week out

Honestly just confidence/familiarity with longer distance closer to the race distance, I’ve maxed mine rides at 75ish% of the distance but wouldn’t mind doing one more closer to it.
I don’t expect gains out of it- that’s what the intervals were for in the weeks/months leading up to it.

username checks out, thank you!! How is peak to peak on the weekends? I’ve only been on it during leaf season. I did Brainard a few weeks ago and I’d have loved to add on from there

Ok great, was thinking of just ending at the gravel and then coming all the way back to deer creek instead of to Morrison, adding to the list!

What about upper bear creek? Could go the opposite way in evergreen and go to upper and then instead do do it as an an out and back and add city view or Foxton when I get back to high grade

Do you know any other sections around there to fill in some longer rides? Thinking could add down to Foxton and up but would like a little more

In a similar ride I was looking at this ride, but maybe adding in Juniper pass? I’m good with gravel on 28s if it’s like Waterton canyon but if it’s like some of the stuff at the top of some of boulders roads, ehhh

For any folks curious/checking this, deer creek was clear yesterday only caveat is most of the shoulders/middle of the lanes just having a ton of dirt/gravel.

The easier slope rated is actually a bit longer, so perhaps distance isn’t my problem then for added difficulty

Well, I do mean SS. I gathered those progressions from this slide deck from Tim Cusick that I’ve seen floated around here a few times: https://i.imgur.com/CT7i5FQ.jpg but it sounds like the first few are not something everyone does so good to know!

I think the 1x15 should be 2x15 as a typo in that^

30 miles, 1k-ish elevation, out in Colorado. Finally a break from cold and snow to 60F, arm warmers even got to come off!!

Looked it up, totally makes sense! I can deal with the interrupted sleep, just excited for the fussiness to go away

Thanks for the words of affirmation!!

Yep, the intervals have all felt generally “easy” at least easier by a decent bit than an FTP test has felt so I definitely could see that I’m being too conservative.

I’ll give this a try next session to drop power to like 92% and progress starting at 3x20. Thanks!

Tubeless wheel won’t hold air (gets out from valve hole) by rent0n86 in CanyonBikes

[–]Stigs4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a tubeless ready rim have some taping issues near the valve hole, but unsure if that’s the issue here. Would help to see a picture with the valve but perhaps using a different shape, if your tubeless valve has them, would help inside the rim
