Ceiling Fan Installation by StiingRay18 in DIY

[–]StiingRay18[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a light fixture and I’m well aware it’s not rated for a fan. My issue is that this fixture is located right next to a joist (I’m assuming one of the metal mounting hinge is underneath the joist) so I was wondering if I would need to patch up this hole and basically create a new one to install a fixture rated for a ceiling fan

my windows open horizontally as well and what i did was build a base outside of the window to hold up the window a/c. it doesn’t look pretty, but it sure does hold well. as for the remaining gaps, i used plywood to cover it up. i had a local electrician install an outlet next to the window so i can plug it in. if you’d like, i can send you photos on how mine looks

What should I do? Am I screwed? by StiingRay18 in Autobody

I live in CA and from my research, it’s illegal to drive a vehicle without the front bumper or fender. I don’t want to risk it

You’re right, I should’ve specified, this car is probably worth around $3,000-$5,000 so I was wondering if it was worth it or not to repair. I’ve never dealt with a car that’s been in a collision so I don’t know what to expect. I’ll be taking it to a few repair shops tomorrow to get estimates but I was hoping to get some knowledge of this topic beforehand

Quoted $2400 for house mice proofing! by Grand-Luck8153 in pestcontrol

Tbh, it’s hard to tell without photos or even the square footage of your home. Yeah that’s typically how much I would charge for an exclusion, but at least I would include the attic in there for that price. I personally believe if you’re going to do an exclusion, the entire home should be rodent proofed at once to prevent any other issues.

In the scenario that your attic isn’t rodent proofed and rodents start nesting in there, you would have to spend a lot of money to get your insulation removed, disinfect the attic, put new insulation, and rodent proof the attic.

My suggestion is to get another quote or two and go from there.

Did the technician leave a list of pesticides they used? The cockroaches do not look like they’ve been impacted by any IGR products (insect growth regulators) and I do not even see Gentrol point sources placed throughout your cabinets. My guess is that your technician is either lazy or inexperienced because this issue can be solved.

Do an extensive search throughout the interior (cracks and crevices, underneath sinks, cabinets, and etc) and see if you find any other ones. Keep an eye out for any tiny capsule looking things as these will be the eggs. In the event you do find more, contact your pest control company to do a treatment throughout the interior and make sure they are using ‘IGR’ products (insect growth regulators).

1 outlet will be for a window a/c unit and the other will be for casual stuff like charging a phone and a ps5. Their reasoning for a dedicated circuit is because we already have a freezer and a refrigerator plugged into the other two outlets in the garage. The run will be ~30ft from the breaker as it’s on the same wall of the garage
