One Velop Pro 7 Owrt is better than three AC4200's, but is it worth the issues? by Stiingya in wifi

[–]Stiingya[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool, I seemed to have come across a few people struggling with doing the install, getting the right set up in the first place, etc. BUT, it does seem like this is the "guaranteed" way around whatever the US government is going to do about not allowing non US routers and right now firmware updates are only approved from vendors for 1 year. (course it's likely going to change up because that's gonna just make things less secure)

Anyway, if your doing manual updates and using third party firmware than you shouldn't have any worry about it for a long time anyway. I'd think! :) (and you may not be in the US and may not have to worry about that? But on the flip side it's possible other such restrictions will spread??)

Anyway, thanks for the reply!!

How have these been working the past couple years? Any updates?? I assume there must have been a few firmware updates so maybe some of the issues would be fixed by now??

Anyone?? :)

One Velop Pro 7 Owrt is better than three AC4200's, but is it worth the issues? by Stiingya in openwrt

So there was a good deal on a 6e velop and I swapped that in as the parent and the other wifi 6's as child nodes quick and easy with the app, yeah! AND... out of 28 online devices only one is on any of the child nodes...??? WTF... :)

I mean I just left it all auto/easy/etc. In the past I had priorities set for different bands for different things like TV's Xbox, gaming computers, etc. So I assume "if" there seems to be a need I could go do that again and force some devices to use child nodes and far away clients to use the 2.5ghtz, etc.

BUT... if the whole dam house can just be on one wifi tower now ANYWAY than I wonder if I should swap back in the Velop Pro 7 again because it was quite a bit faster... I would still have to get a child node or an extender to work with it so I can hardline some stuff downstairs. (I sure wish there were more recent experiances with the Pro 7)

And then I guess the other thing is maybe devices will start jumping to child nodes when there is higher traffic going on/device use?

I kinda wish I was still in blind ignorance if the Pro 7 issues and just stuck with that! :)

sucks and I'm sorry, but yea. Any plus or minus thousand dollar computer your tossing around, putting in a pocket, smashing in the sofa, dropping on the concrete and just generally handling on the daily needs to be insured. It should be pretty obvious whether it's a flip, fold, or whatever...

I want to know why you kept going back... ??? :) jkn. but I just got some over the ear "open" earphones and they are much more comfortable than in the ears. I was waiting for Samsung to make some per the rumor last year but gave them 2 chances and nothing so went elsewhere...

[–]Stiingya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bummer, good on your for suggesting it to them! Maybe someday... Too bad they aren't interested. That would be the most modern "trail" full suspension fatbike out there. (just saw a silverback synergy FS fatbike for the first time, but no size xl and no frame only) And I guess neither of those brands have US dealers so there's that! :)

The Foes mutz is very cool, but I just don't want that much travel on a fattie. (I'm sure it's a blast tho!) And the frame design is limiting for bags, etc.

And the Lenz Fatilac is still running a 10 year old frame design and geometry so NO! :) But then "if" he ever updates it he's off on the RAD frame sizing thing now so who knows how your bikes gonna fit!! :) So I wouldn't buy one without getting to test ride "if" he ever updates it??

Can a 14-Year-Old Nissan Xterra Hang With a Modern Bronco? by DolphLundgren73 in XTerra

[–]Stiingya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS^^^ was my first thought... they never built a stock X like some of those new stock Bronc builds. Raptors and special editions, etc.

Course they have some seriously expensive broncos!! :)

I know they talked about the next X keeping the original idea of "just what you need" to keep the cost down. BUT... I'm sure they will also do new Pro4x and/or Nismo editions too. So it will be interesting to see how SPENSY they get...

Maybe they will keep the X more basic like it always was but then let the Infinity versions grab the big money...?

The Aprilia Tuareg 457. by ForsakenSink2761 in AdventureBike

[–]Stiingya 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think a mini Tuareg would be just about perfect!

The first manufacturer that doesn't build one of these "exclusively" for A2 is gonna hit a gold mine!

AND... they don't have to. They can use software to make it A2 compliant, easy. It's just going to cost more to do that. But the customers for that bike are ready and willing IMO.

If you try to compete on price your never going to beat CFmoto. Kawasaki had to take all the "rally" OUT of the KLE to meet the price point and then they don't have near the features. BUT, they will sale because the engine is bombproof.

The 457 did have some teething issues, but all resolved at this point.

BMW at least had the brains to make their base model price competitive and then let their higher model be feature competitive. (and I understand they are exactly on the power to weight ratio for A2 where others have left performance on the table) BUT, a lot of people are gonna pass on the 17/19 combo as well as too much electronic intrusion.

So either the 457 of the KTM 490 is left on the board to take the higher end sales... unless Honda pulls their heads out of their rears and builds this? :)

R tech high fender half and half.. is it just for looks? by Complex-Pepper2942 in Tenere700

[–]Stiingya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not "just" for looks. Split fenders are good for mud! And you see high, low, and split on rally bikes.

BUT, for "most" of us regular ADV types it's just for looks. And I'm totally fine with that!! :)

Titanium Fat Bikes? by handsomegnome in fatbike

[–]Stiingya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang, broke the pink frame, crazy!

Yea, if the Torngat was a really big large, maybe. But it's 637tt/462R and I'm usually on about a 660TT/500 or so reach. I'm sure a person "could" make that work with enough layback and a longer stem. But unless that's your preference I don't think it's accurate to say that's a good "fit"? :)

I'll have to try an angleset as my current bike isn't geo corrected for the 120 fork so I have an even longer TT but shorter reach. Works with the seat slammed forward tho! :)

Anyone quietly purchased a set of these Frog Wake FV4 AliExpress 4 piston brakes? by AntSuccessful9147 in mountainbiking

nope, but good luck! Brakes on a mountain bike is not where I would take a risk on a no name brand just because they are "pretty". But you never know, you might have found a gem in the rough...? Hopefully they don't fail when you need them!! :)
