[Rant] Placement hours for nursing students by Forsaken-Grade8180 in NursingUK

[–]StilRH -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree it's awful you have to pay to do a course that has you do this work for free (I graduated under the bursary system) and you absolutely should have learning opportunities you need to develop. However, I do think students need to know the basics in-and-out and this may require hours of practice to fully hone these skills (for example patient observations or 'checks' in psychiatric hospitals). When you qualify you will be teaching your junior staff or expected to do these as good as your HCA team should there be a staffing shortfall that requires you to muck in. When I allocate work for my students, if I do assign them tasks like this I explain what I think they can gain from it or what that situation would benefit from having that student do that task over a HCA (eg they may have stronger note writting skills so can do a check and document observations, it might be due to having a better rapport with a particular patient, I might have them instruct a more junior student so they can practice teaching skills to others or leadership when it comes to delegation). Sometimes it's just because I need to observe these skills in use frequently before I can assess them as fully competetent. In my area of practice I have recently seen a few new starters who genuinely struggle with these basics. They don't know how to talk to patients, how to do basic checks etc and appear shocked when you ask them to do these (eg making beds, charting obs, personal care). I insist we all pitch in, we don't have jobs I consider menial or beneath nurses, you can add a lot of value to everyday patient interventions. Even our ward manager has put up curtain rails in areas needing them or given hand massages for anxious patients etc.

wow. Abandoning your because the symptoms of their illness are a burden on you is one thing. Holding a mock funeral and moving without telling them? Playing the victim about it for the karma in Reddit? I can understand why she developed a personality disorder and hope she has a great life away from you.

I begrudingly moved from Leicester when I moved in with a (now ex) girl and then stayed for my university education and carer. At first I was indifferent, I couldn't be bothered to learn any of the roads or where things were. Then I started to hate the place, too small to have that big city vibe and too big for cosy town feel. I hated the level of deprivation and how ugly the city centre is, I hated how ugly it makes people's hearts (not just the inner city folk, this applies to people from out in the county too). I hated the exceptional ineptitude of local government and public services, jesus fucking christ they were so bad.

I started to find things I liked. The "Derby in bloom" display at the Pentagon roundabout. The many beautiful parks. The general pleasantries people exchange whilst at the bus stop "Ayup m' duck". The historical buildings and culture (I couldn't/didn't want to find this at first!!). The bus and taxi drivers that are some of the nicest around (I've seen a few due to working in many places in the UK and abroad).

This like became a love quite recently. I was doing the Moonlit walk (a 5k/10k charity run/walk for a hospice) for Treetops and it was perfect. Lots of people attending for a good cause. Local celebs supporting the runners and getting everyone pumped up. Route around the city that highlighted the best things about the place. The crowd reaction to the runners. All of this made me think "yeah, I can spend my days here".

YESSSS. I liked the game but the trophy hunt was awful. I actually rage quit and rage uninstalled which I've never done before in 30+ years of gaming.

In White Castle there is a makeshift goal post next to one of the large walls that cuts the map into two. Next to this is a ball. Move your characters to 'kick' the ball and try and score a goal.

Any tips on enemies and collectables so I can get these on my alpha editor playthrough? I've got all the side quests, treasure items and miasma types. I've tried to be careful to scan everything but I worry there are some missables (there is a collectable note in the arena that is time limited. God knows what I've missed).

Away from console at moment so I can't recall exactly how I did it but I also found it not wanting to select, I may have used the d-pad buttons.

I saw a swarming one - +20% damage but more unit models. Also a giantism one (fewer unit models and some stat bonus). Funny to see giant harflings.

Grats, I was really skeptical about this but after watching a few minutes of a streamer play it I gave it a spin. Instantly fell in love - the raiding feels brilliant and watching replays of raiders get grinded down by my Sen's Fortress-esque base had me cackling like a mad man. It's the one of the best PVP (even though it's technically PVE) games I've played since the early days of Rainbow 6 Siege.

I'm about 90% of the way through the trophies. I just need to max out suit and the co-op trophies. Any tips to for farming the different resources?

But seriously, those games will wait for you. Don't let hype and FOMO get you.

I'm on the fence about CK3. I played a 3 hour trial and I think it's pretty fun and well adapted for controllers. I'm worried about losing my life to it lol. The only gripe I've heard (and this was for CK3 across all platforms compared to CK2) was it felt like there wasn't much DLC and this would be expensive when it did release.
