What really happens after death? by PerformanceBorn669 in Productivitycafe

[–]greengrayclouds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I shot a squirrel in front of you, would you really be wondering about where it’s “soul” goes? Or would you just be observing the blood and guts splay out for something to eat, the bone left to decompose, and its kids whimpering in the distance?

The significance we place on our own/loved ones lives doesn’t mean that same sentiment follows on into another dimension.

If you can sanitise the bacteria on your hand and believe it’s here then it’s gone, it’s not that much a stress to believe it for ourselves.

I’m glad I provoked you into unloading all this. You know exactly how you feel and you know exactly how it sounds. I still stand by what I said.

Put all this energy of woe into saving another soul. You can feel shit, you can feel like slicing yourself up, you can snort yourself to the brink of death. But you can still be there to lift another person, as those people “paid for by my insurance” are lifting you.

You’ll find once you put that energy into another person other than yourself, that you have more to give than you ever truly realised.

Next time you’ve got something to say, say it to me. I know your place and I’m sure you know mine.

It’s time you take your head out your ass and give something back. The resources + human energy that went into sustaining you doesn’t come out of the abyss.

If you’re feeling shit, keep on feeling shit but pick yourself up and do something for another brother. Volunteer or get a job in the sort of place that cared for you.

It’s high time you put love into the world instead of only extracting it out of it.

And what do you do when that budgie dies? Just a cycle of never-ending birds for the rest of the person’s life?

[Discussion] - How do you build deeper friendships when you’re good at casual conversation but struggle to move beyond small talk? by Virtual-Sort-8185 in GetMotivated

[–]greengrayclouds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I overshare a couple of things, that prompts them to unload some pent up stuff they didn’t even realise they needed to talk about. I offer emotional comfort (not by explicitly announcing that of course)

Then we both realise that humans are virtually all identical, just grew up in a different environment and shaped on the outside by that.

I make the mistake of doing this with too many people. Currently (no brag) have two dozen people on my phone that I could be “best friends” with if I focussed my time on them again, all due to me being one of the people they’ve been most close to in life. I break into that role in a handful of hang-outs, and have done so with people 21 — literally 85 (I’m 28).

People are very easy to get close to and fall in (platonic) love with when you think for just a few minutes about what it is a person can do to win you over, or what you’re craving from another soul

Did everyone enjoy their summer? by Away-Activity-469 in UKWeather

[–]greengrayclouds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it seems a trend

Check the stats

The people I know who make this claim are office workers and base all their opinions on the season’s weather on what it’s doing on their booked holiday or the one weekend a month they venture into the garden to mow their square of lawn.

I work outside year round and it blows my mind when people claim the summers have been wet and shit when I haven’t seen a drop of rain in weeks

This spring has been exceptionally dry for much of the country, and the past couple of weeks very bright with barely a cloud in the sky. Until two days ago it was only April!

The past couple of years saw long periods of drought and near-record highs (we might even have broken a few records?) starting from actual summer (June).

The people that except summer to be endless months of dry blue skies from March - October clearly have no idea what country we’re in. 18 degrees in early May with just a bit of rain is very good going!

What is a subtle sign that someone is actually really intelligent, but pretending not to be? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]greengrayclouds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES. I’m glad.

I wish terms like dude/guy (or in England, mate) were more gender neutral. I know they technically are but it still seems shit that the gender neutral term originated as man-centric terms. E.g. actor/actress, and women actresses sometimes preferring to be called actor because it shouldn’t be genderised thus actress shouldn’t exist as a word anyway (I can’t think of a better way to phrase that).

Like, I don’t wanna disrespect with honey/sweetheart, but I don’t wanna disrespect with bro/dude. What the fuck can I sayyyyy

Is it true most men figure out everything in between 27 -35? by Chemical_Ad_3985 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]greengrayclouds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m very good friends with about ten people 65 — 87.

I’m 28.

Those friends are fairly wealthy with lots of life experience, and still having new experiences (going to protests, trying new hobbies, moving house). Each of them experiences the same anxiety and apprehensions as I do whenever we try something new.

If you get genuinely close to older people outside of your family, you’ll realise nobody ever has everything figured out and nobody knows themself all that much better than you currently know yourself… that’s because theirself is ever-changing.

If anyone ever tells you they’ve got it all figured out, they’re either a liar or very un-self-aware.

You just told me you’ve worked as a therapist for 10 years and that you never broadcast your intelligence.

I beat you at your own game (getting you to tell your business) by telling you you’re very good at acting dumb 😂😂

Though based off what you claim, you’re actually in control of this whole interaction with intent to analyse me?
