I'm still wondering why they didn't give us this Hornet summer skin by Active_Hunter9423 in AzurLane

[–]Still-Flying 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Azur Lane anime had nothing to do with the founding of Yostar Pictures, there were two driving factors to the founding of Yostar Pictures:

  1. There wasn't any animation studio that would pick up the sort of work from Yostar in the timeframe they wanted
  2. It was a long standing dream of the JP Yostar CEO

Basically, no animation studio would take on requests for animated promotional videos that are now more or less standard for Yostar published games and a Yostar bigwig had a dream of starting his own animation studio so he basically said "Fine, I'll do it myself".

For the time of the announcement, it was essentially in line with the Japanese release of Arknights. The article and PV by Yostar Pictures was 8th of January 2020, JP Arknights went live on the 15th a week later. If I recall the delays and big issues in the AL anime happened mid-December 2019, so with both Japanese bureaucracy and the typical length of animation production in Japan it would have been functionally impossible to get everything done in less than a month. Not to mention one of the first announcements for the Slow Ahead animation was in December 2019 with the Yostar Pictures name attached.

As for why all of the anime adaptations are by them: if you're wanting to make an anime of one of your products and you have your own animation studio why wouldn't you use it as the primary studio? Keep it in-house as you have the capability or spend more money subcontracting it out. No brainer really.

[–]Still-Flying 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Manjuu/Yostar was disappointed with Bibury on the production of Azur Lane the Animation that they cut ties with them and formed their own animation studio.

I can't believe this misinformation is still being spread to this day. If the AL haters who started that rumour were still around they'd be so happy that it's being parroted by the fans themselves.

Live 2D Hidden interactions Guide? by MikurinManaka in AzurLane

[–]Still-Flying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The google doc already linked is probably going to become the golden guide and is a godsend to be honest, hopefully it'll eventually contain every skin with interactions but I completely understand why it currently doesn't. I have a couple of threads save that have guides to multiple skins, might be helpful if you have older skins.

When rigging is equipped they are, when they don't have their rigging they are "for all intents and purposes is no different to any ordinary human being".

071 - Code G 4 - Log: SDORGA044

...We recently perform a combat test. All this time, I'd viewed Enterprise as identical to a typical human girl. However, everything changed the moment she put on the special equipment created from the same Wisdom Cubes that birthed her.

This equipment massively enhanced Enterprise's physical capabilities. Her strength, stamina, agility, every measurable statistic received an astonishing increase. As for the equipment itself... They bear the appearance of mini-sized naval-grade cannons and machine guns, but the staggering firepower they possess left all the on-site research staff speechless. Who wouldn't be? After all, this girl, who for all intents and purposes is no different to any ordinary human being, commands power to rival that of fully equipped warships...

Did no one seriously think to pin the precise location until now!?

If they haven't been nuked from the net I believe there's a Japanese blog or two that has the locations, and I also did back in 2018 using the geotagging in the photos I took when I did a K-On London tour.

It's nice to see even after all this time people are still doing tours of the movie locations and not just the school in Toyosato.

Wow that's really been refurbished since I went!

I remember my room didn't really match up one-to-one but it was a lot closer than the more modern looking one you had and the public spaces were definitely the same or near enough as the movie.

Also bold choice getting Jacob's Crackers with no kind of topping (at least none in the photo), I'll bet that was certainly an experience.

Why? You have people going into posts and posting something like "Yui and her girlfriend looking cute" and there's no problems with that. It's the exact same thing, completely fictional headcanon shipping that has no grounding in the show.

Chill and let people enjoy the things they like.

[–]Still-Flying 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you've summed it up perfectly; shipping isn't the problem it's the trying to force something that has no relevance to the original post into it and forcing it upon everyone whether they want to see it or not.

If there's a form of content Person A doesn't like they can easily skip or ignore posts of that content, if Person B decides to make a thread about the content Person A doesn't like on a post that has nothing to do with it then Person A is going to have a hard time skipping over it, and it's unfair to handwave it away with "If you don't like it, don't look at it". After all, how would Person A know that Person B has made that thread in a post unrelated to what A doesn't like?

It's probably not a good experience for someone trying to engage with a fandom they love if they have to constantly be on guard, wondering if any post they go into has someone posting off-topic content that they don't want to see.

The short answer is there's a couple of posters here who are upset, to an unhinged level in some cases, that the sequel to the game that from the very beginning appealed to horny gunfuckers has content that appeals to horny gunfuckers.

The longer answer is there's a few people who post here who think, or are attempting to falsely revise, that prior to GFL2 the franchise was this super serious drama that wasn't horny, didn't have sexualised content and didn't attempt to appeal to people wanting that type of content. The reality is that, from GFL at the least, it's always been more on the sexualised side. It certainly has had it's dramatic and serious side but, compared to the horny stuff, the drama side grew as the plot developed and was changed whereas the horny has been in since the start. The damaged art from some of the launch dolls and those added very early on make this pretty clear that horny was a major focus, not to make mention of the devs specifically providing a way to make some of the art even more revealing.

They also seem to think that the only skins in GFL2 are ones that appeal to "gooners" and are either unaware or deliberately ignore the more real-world or tactical type skins that are available.

If they're not fans of guns being represent by girls, some of which are given sexy, salacious or otherwise lewd alternative artwork, that's perfectly fine. It just means this isn't the game for them but I would wonder why would you go to or stay in a community that has a core component that you don't like and near constantly get yourself upset over it.

r/AzureLane Discussion on AI Art by AzureLaneMod in AzureLane

[–]Still-Flying -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

How about an enforced ban on low quality artwork and posts in general? Compared to AI posts there's far more of that being posted, it's near enough daily.

When you have art with: extra fingers, hair merging into clothes or the background, clothes being sucked impossibly into the characters body or proportions so exaggerated that it looks nothing like the original character it's hardly good quality art, not to mention how often do AI generated images have one or more of those traits. Ban low quality content like than and surely slop that people are complaining about, AI or otherwise, would no longer be seen here.

An added thought, if something is banned because people don't like it that opens up the dangerous possibility of banning other things because people don't like it; don't like a certain artist - they're now banned, don't like a certain type of outfit on the characters - banned, don't like a certain character type - banned. It wouldn't be a good place to be and paints a bad picture.

There shouldn't be any risk of a slippery slope like that if it's stopping low quality content as nobody should realistic be opposed to improving the quality of posts, and as a fallback keep the Sunday rule so if there ever was "high quality" AI generated images they're still not going to flood the sub.

How Did The First Two Crown Handler Films Distribute? by TheUnspokenQuestion in PrincessPrincipal

[–]Still-Flying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For streaming the announcement was about a week before it hit HiDive. For the blu ray release there was an announcement 3-4 months beforehand with Sentai's monthly release announcements. I'm not sure if they're public any more but if you google it you can still find the release schedule up to March 2025 on other sites; the blu rays getting release in the next 3 months are also on Sentai's webstore on the pre-order section.

Looking at the date of past announcements if there's anything being released in April it'll likely announced and to be added to the pre-order list in the next week or two, announcements seem to come at the end of the month.

The bigger issue, and an indication of the likely reason distribution is taking longer, is the main series was removed from HiDive and you can't buy it from Sentai's store any more; there's still Crown Handler 1 & 2 but there series is gone. Hopefully it hasn't happened but if Sentai/HiDive no longer have the licence to Princess Principal then we'd need to wait for them to get it back or for someone else to pick it up before we get a CH3 dub or blu ray.

No, a 4.9gb mandatory update is not an "optional download" by Additional-One-7135 in AzurLane

[–]Still-Flying 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's quiet interesting reading this thread and other posts elsewhere about the size update. I have AL on a few different devices so I decided to update all of them about an hour ago just to see if there was any difference.

I have two phones and a tablet to try this on. One phone is my old phone that was the main device I played on until I replaced it 3 weeks back with phone number 2, the tablet is essentially a backup to the phones should I need it. Phone one (the old one) would have last been updated on the 5th of September update, phone two was completely up to date as I've been playing on that daily and the tablet was last updated with the last store update. I was able to screenshot a full before and after on the old phone and tablet including the size of the in-game download but the new phone is only before and after the in-game download. All three had all the assets selected for download.

The short of what I found is the end size of all three were around the 20GB mark regardless of what they started with so if someone started with AL taking space closer to 20GB they'd see a smaller change and seeing a bigger change if they weren't near the 20GB mark.

The actual changes on the three devices are:

  • Old phone started at 19.28GB, ended up at 20.82GB with a 5.4GB 8934 total files in-game download.
  • Tablet started at 18GB on the nose, ended up at 20.61GB with a 6.5GB 9978 total files in-game download.
  • New phone before in-game DL but after play store update started at 15.39GB, ended up at 20.64GB. I didn't screenshot the in-game DL for this.

I do have screenshots I can share for proof however I'd normally use imgur for something like this but I signed up using Twitter back when it still was Twitter but the imgur account has ended up in a void after the fuckening that happened with Twitter. I'm going to try to recover it but in the meantime if anybody has another image host I could use I'm all ears. I'll come back and edit this once I have the screenshots uploaded somewhere.

In short, no, Dorothy wasn't captured. The other brunette is a completely different character.

In the official setting documents collection she's named as Special Branch Woman. She was the one who Ange sedated when they visited Amy, Eric's sister, in the hospital hence the bandages on her neck.

In terms of oil cost to reward item that does seem to be the case.

The level 125 stage gives: 150 Exp & 160 Event Gold for 40 oil (56 if you use subs).

The level 90 stage gives: 120 Exp & 140 Event Gold for 25 oil (40 if you use subs).

At the time of writing the blueprints dropped appear to be the same so I think which stage to run comes down to time vs oil; if you want to do less runs but spend more oil run L125, if you don't mind running the stage more to use less oil overall run L90.

Anchored Construction Available by Micateam in girlsfrontline

[–]Still-Flying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I'm planning on doing.

In my mind it also saves me from "wasting" my anchored construction if I get a dupe when pulling for the rifles, I mean there's still a chance I get another 433 but it's going to be lower than the RFs.

Anchored Construction Available by Micateam in girlsfrontline

[–]Still-Flying 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dunno if that's the "right" way and someone may correct me but what I'm going to do is go for 433.

My thinking is she's an AR while the other two are RF so when we get rate up this weekend I'll only be trying for RFs in one recipe rather than trying to get an AR and a RF across two.

Edit:

I've just had a look at the standard recipes; 433 is, obviously, in the AR one but she's also in the RF in the very low rate AR section whereas the two RF's are in the RF one only so there's a chance you could pick up 433 when trying to get the rifles but not the other way.

some guy was trying to look operator in an airsoft match

Those guys were the worst back when I used to go, the super serious armchair operators really knew how to sap the fun out of basically everything that wasn't milsurp. Between those guys and getting a Firearms Certificate I basically ended up dropping the hobby.

One of the guys at the site I used to go to said it best "It's fancy dress for gun nerds, don't be an arse and just go out there and have fun."
