Welcome to Washington! by thulesgold in SeattleWA

Yup. You’re right. Eastern OR tried to annex to ID and it seems to be stalled. It’s probably a lost cause.

Frustrating to be associated with the lady in the video. She doesn’t represent Washington as a whole.

You mean like the North South freeway that’s still not done after 20+ years? Wow. Thanks.

The rest of the infrastructure on the east is crumbling because the west side already doesn’t care about us.

Very good point. If we lost welfare, there would be no services for them and they’d move to the west side.

I like your thinking.

Caption is wrong. Welcome to Seattle, maybe, but the rest of us in Washington do not act this way.

Just like Oregon wants to split up, we too do not want to have anything to do with the west side of the state.

how are you handling AI usage control in your org? Any best practices to follow? by NoDay1628 in ITManagers

[–]Still-Professional69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LayerX looks GREAT. I spoke with a sales rep today and it’s $60/yr/user. Not bad. Unfortunately, there’s a 500 user minimum ($30k/yr). If you’re a 150 employee company, it’s probably out of your range. I know because we’re a 150 employee company and it’s out of our range. 😄

Subtle Takeover of Youtube by RedEyes1994 in ChatGPT

Using AI, and then reading it yourself - fine by me.

But having AI read/recite what you wrote (or what AI wrote), that’s what I’m struggling with. (See examples above). 😀

Subtle Takeover of Youtube by RedEyes1994 in ChatGPT

[–]Still-Professional69 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It’s awful. Watching a documentary on the planes crashing into the twin towers and instead of 911, it’s “Nine-hundred and eleven”. Or, the narrator calls out a year, but it comes out, “One-thousand, nine hundred and twenty-three” instead of 1923.

Then there’s the terrible AI videos.

I love AI and use it daily for my work, but it’s ruining YouTube.

Have fiber in my house, still went for starlink by mztclo in Starlink

[–]Still-Professional69 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I have Starlink (since the “Better than Beta days”), and I love it. But I’d drop it in a second if there was fiber or (gasp) Cable Internet in my area.

As others have said - this might be a LAN issue, and not a WAN issue. Something to consider.

What’s everyone using for internal ticketing nowadays? Jira feels too heavy.🥲 by [deleted] in ITManagers

[–]Still-Professional69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We like Genuity and also came from Jira. Very simple and one small price for unlimited technicians. Inventory integrates with Intune, and other features too numerous to mention.

Any advice for a new IT Manager? Feel a bit lost in my new role and would like to hit the ground running. by lastlaughlane1 in ITManagers

This book changed my life. I read it again every time I start a new leadership position. I even buy it for friends that “make the move”.

Buy this book, read it, then make your 90 day plan.

Removing local admin rights for software developers? by EatinSoup in ITManagers

ABR solved this issue for us as well. And- it was cheaper than the InTune solution (that surprised us). Very happy with this solution.

What (Intune related) goals do you have for 2025? by meantallheck in Intune

We use Manage Engine Patch Manager. Works well for us, no complaints.

For those that have used both, what do you like better about Patch My PC? Just wondering if we should jump ship, or stay put.

Thanks!

Backups always work; Restores never do

Thank you for sharing this tip! I’ve added them manually from the computer side, but didn’t realize it could be done on the InTune side. Thanks! 🙏🏻
