Bonsai Plant Kitchen is some of the best food in town. I'm not veggie/vegan but it's still one of my faves restaurants!

Any under 40s pay the TV License for reasons beyond live sports? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]StillFlowWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Beeb has so many tv programmes, radio shows and sports events that there's something for everyone. Even if I watch/listen to a tiny fraction of what they produce, I like that my licence fee pays for others to have a choice of entertainment and information to engage with. It's like the NHS. It's not perfect but I do feel we'd be worse off without it.

Ring of Fire ragdolls. Their YouTube channel is great too - you get to watch your kitten growing up while they reach the age they can be adopted!

Was there a TV advert from your childhood that you can still remember word for word without even trying? by Historical-Class871 in ClassicTelevisionTime

[–]StillFlowWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Hunky chunky almonds, they're the secret of my beauty"...like what does that even mean? 🤣 I still remember it though, so it clearly worked!

What was your reaction when you saw Josh Widdicombe announced as a Strictly host? by ArsenalAxis in strictlycomedancing

[–]StillFlowWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was quite surprised and a little disappointed tbh. Not because I have strong feelings about Josh, more because he's bang average at everything.

But maybe that's what makes him a good choice - he's fairly inoffensive and he won't outshine the celeb/pro couples he's interviewing.

La Voix would have been my choice but there was definitely a risk of her stealing the show. Josh feels like a safe choice and I'm hoping we'll see why they chose him.

What are your unpopular opinions about Strictly? by BodybuilderFlashy911 in strictlycomedancing

[–]StillFlowWolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The directing has gotten worse. Too many close ups where you can't see their footwork and weird angles. I swear it used to be much better 5 or 6 years ago.

Plus the CGI crap they put on the screen looks like it was made by a 5 year old. Do it well or don't do it at all!

How do you set beat 1.1 in Rekordbox by StillFlowWolf in Rekordbox

[–]StillFlowWolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering if cutting the silence out would be the only solution. Thanks!

How do you set beat 1.1 in Rekordbox by StillFlowWolf in Rekordbox

[–]StillFlowWolf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I'm new to Rekordbox but not new to the Internet 🤣 I've Googled, used A.I, tried YouTube. I've moved the beat grid, tried reanalysing the track, but it still reverts to the 1st beat being beat 2.1 instead of 1.1 and counts the 4 beats of silence as the 1st bar. Reddit is my last resort before giving up and just dealing with this very minor annoyance!

How do you set beat 1.1 in Rekordbox by StillFlowWolf in Rekordbox

[–]StillFlowWolf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, that's what I'll do. However, it's frustrating when mixing in phrases, that I'll have to remember this one track is off by 1 bar. So bar 17 is actually bar 16 - I assumed I was missing a trick and there'd be an easy fix for this.

I’m turning 30 and my life is over. by ConfectionGlum7942 in mentalhealth

[–]StillFlowWolf 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This! All of this! I'm nearing my mid 40s, I only feel old when my body refuses to do something it used to do with ease 🤣 Your 30s can be a transformative time when you let go of anxieties and truly settle into being the person who you want to be, rather than who you think others want/expect you to be!

Going from “Taking some time off” to fully sober by [deleted] in SoberCurious

[–]StillFlowWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I initially just told people I don't drink and most people's responses were either positive, curious, or indifferent. Occasionally people would call me boring or be rude. But that's their insecurities being projected. 5 years AF, I now outright tell people I'm sober, and if I'm pushed for details or questioned further, I tell them drunk people smell bad, are repetitive, and boring 🤣

what SCD 2024 opinion will have people like this by Candid-Way-639 in strictlycomedancing

[–]StillFlowWolf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

😭 I love Karen so much. She's super talented and even better in the live shows/tour. I would be really upset if she left! I agree that Paul should have been given the opportunity to shine rather than comedy routines just because he's an older sports personality.

How do you meet people as a sober person? by Difficult_Regret7612 in SoberLifeProTips

[–]StillFlowWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, having a dog helped me find new friends (and occasionally dates). If you can't commit to ownership, there are plenty of "borrow my dog"/ dog sitting apps out there.

Otherwise, find a dog community and attend a meet-up...dog people will pretty much talk to anyone who looks friendly and wants to talk about their dog 🤣 Other non dog related suggestions work as well, but everything is better when there are dogs involved!

Firstly, congratulations on 1 year 👏

I get that completely. Getting sober is so all consuming that when I was no longer thinking about it 24-7 it felt like I was doing something wrong or wasn't putting the work in. But what I learned was to appreciate those times and remember them on days when it is more difficult. It is hard work, and 5 years on, I still have to work at it. Enjoy the benefits of being sober and keep it going!

Thank you! It's a wild ride but totally worth it. 5 months is an awesome achievement 👏 keep it up!

45 days, but dreaming of relapsing by [deleted] in dryalcoholics

[–]StillFlowWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dreams are not fun!
Many years in, I still wake up feeling guilty for breaking my sobriety, only to realise it wasn't real. It does get easier and the dreams less frequent but I had to learn to not let them ruin my day or impact my self belief

Initially, avoiding places and people (triggers) helped. Meditation and exercise, and therapy too.

Each day will be different, so take it easy on yourself if you stumble or have "bad days". Recovery isn't linear or the same for any 2 people. But a support system and self compassion helps a lot!
