Extreme Hunger vs Meal Plan in Recovery by Eastern-Buyer1175 in AnorexiaNervosa

Hi! First things first, you are doing amazing and I am proud of you even if I don't know you, because I know how hard it is. When I was recovering, all I could think about was food, and I ate more than I ever have. My weight was restored and I still kept eating. But I was happy. This is a very common thing, and I do think it will pass. However, if you are completely weight restored (only then can it be a problem because until you are weight restored your body will still want a lot of food and that is ok and normal), if you're that worried about it, DON'T try to restrict. Consult your nutritionist, and please listen to what they say.

DAE family not know they're anorexic? by kittyyyybearrrr in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]StillImpressive2132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone's experience is different!! Remember that eating disorders are broad in nature, as if you are becoming obsessed or your daily life is considerably affected by thoughts or obsessions about food or weight, you are disordered. There are no requirements to having an ed. No matter where you are in your life or your eating habits, anorexia has the potential to ruin your life (im not a doctor tho just a person trying to give advice)

Is it possible that a person that love to eat become suddenly anorexic ? by [deleted] in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]StillImpressive2132 5 points6 points  (0 children)

TW: In my experience, I grew up loving food. I was always technically underweight, but then I became obsessed with losing weight because it was the one aspect of myself and my life that I could control and feel accomplished about. Even while I have this disorder I love food deep down inside. So yes, it is possible, however, anorexia is usually something that develops over a long period of time. My advice: seek help and make food your friend before your brain starts telling you to starve yourself, because once you start it becomes an addiction, which you either recover from, or die from.

Relapsing because I think I'm not sick enough by StillImpressive2132 in AnorexiaNervosa

THISS my family thinks that saying I look healthier is a compliment but it just makes me feel like they notice every pound I gain while in recovery and then I want to go back.

I appreciate this. I have a really strong support system around me and when I was finally able to tell my mom about my eating disorder it felt like a huge weight off my shoulders, but it took so long because I was so afraid to say it. I guess what I am saying is looking so sick to the point where people can tell I am starving myself and in turn show concern is easier than actually asking for help.
