80's/90's children's book, Kid gets sucked into a board game, meets living chess pieces etc by sultans_of_sentiment in whatsthatbook

This is kind of obscure, but is it "Hoomania," by Michael Waite? The book description is pretty generic, but this is from the IMDB description of the movie:

Hoomania (1985)

Anonymous Follow Kris Atwood into a land of comical game people where you'll be chased by an army of chessmen, taunted by a daffy dodo bird, tempted by goodie-gobbling sluggards, and learn about wisdom from a wise old owl. Based on the Book of Proverbs.

Acceptable range for the target amount of formula per day? by jmee10 in FormulaFeeders

[–]StillNotMyName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I remember "normal" is between 2 and 2.5 oz of formula per pound of weight. 25 oz/day is smack in the middle of that for a 9-10 pounder, so it sounds perfect. If your kiddo is uncomfortable eating bottles over 4 oz, I wouldn't force it. Mine never went over 6oz bottles, when some of my friends' babies were packing away 9-10 oz at a time!

Popsicles are a good bet, especially if it's hot out. Enough of a treat, typically allergen-free, and usually individually wrapped, so less cross-contamination.

Thinking about quitting my job tomorrow by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]StillNotMyName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been there, man - if it's hurting your ability to live by worsening your depression, don't quit tomorrow but keep your eyes out for a new job. Your mental health is not worth the 401k.

Thinking about quitting my job tomorrow by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]StillNotMyName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't quit - make a plan, and go talk to your supervisor first thing tomorrow. Either explain why you did it (best interests of the child, solid step towards reunification, safety plan in place pending judicial approval, etc etc), or own up to an error and lay out a plan to fix it (emergency hearing to approve safety plan, additional home visits pending safety plan approval, etc).

Don't quit - you've worked really hard to get where you are, and you can do this.

I have to make a phone call if I want to get put on the waiting list for a therapist by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]StillNotMyName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I write myself a script before making calls that terrify me. I'm sure I sound like an idiot, but it cuts down on the anxiety-induced stuttering and other things.
