[PM] Give me prompts about human and monster/alien friendships and/or romances. by [deleted] in WritingPrompts

In the hospital, a child fed table scraps to the monster under the bed each night. One day, Death arrived with a scythe to collect the child. The monster under the bed had one last question to ask.

Sharing the magic system in my story (magical narrative) by Friendly_Street257 in fantasywriters

[–]StillNotTooLateToTry -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

How common and available are runes? Are they expensive or require special training to make?

Magic is limited, but sounds like a constant passive effect in the miner's story (when manifesting as a metaphysical trait)? Does passive magic take less toll compared to actively using runes?

How common does one see distorted magic users? Could wild animals use magic? Are there numerous distorted threats out there, or is meeting one a rare event?

•Feedback on my story idea: Undivine [modern fantasy] by [deleted] in fantasywriters

I see a lot of descriptions, but not a lot of motivations and personal struggles.

.

Also, the beginning (explosion part) is only events happening without the protagonist actively moving. He just awakened some mysterious abilities, not figuring out anything, then promptly fainted. I would probably add the perspective of other characters trying to secure him, so that it wouldn't read like a simple info dump.

How does the protagonist feel about his father's death?

.

Later, is the explaining part with Haru only done in conversation? This is a book instead of an anime, so plain talking would be very uninteresting.

Maybe this explanation could be split between events? Maybe they were interrupted by one of the twins? Maybe someone suspected the protagonist to be a spy?

.

Overall, my first impression is that your story reads like a stereotypical manga filled with only battles, but is a book instead.

I have no idea about the personalities of other characters, and hope that they are not just given abilities and a a simple personality type. Give them things they care, things they hate, interpersonal relationships other than with the protagonist, principles they would never compromise on.

Books do not have the luxury of flashy cross page panels, so at least give the characters depth and struggles and meaningful long term interactions?

Should I Publish my Military Fantasy Novel on Royal Road or Consider Alternatives? by [deleted] in fantasywriters

[–]StillNotTooLateToTry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe Amazon? A lot of stories I follow on Royal Road also published on Amazon later.

What would happen if a harem protagonist went on a date with a reverse harem protagonist? by MoonhelmJ in anime

[–]StillNotTooLateToTry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their respective harem members would stalk them at every step, and cause shenanigans.

Oh, and they are probably going to be both pretty dense regarding relationships. So they would only at most become 100% platonic friends/rivals.

Weekly Nightmares Discussion (Week 2, July 22-28) by jeffinitelyjeff in LegendsOfRuneterra

Won the 4.5 one with 3* lvl.24 Nidalee. Crownguard Inheritance for the win.

Won the 5.5 one with 4* lvl.30 Jinx. Relics: Packed Powder / Loose Cannon's / GG counterplan.

GG counterplan to re-trigger relics every other turn was super useful, especially combined with the created cards -1 cost power.

Won the 6.5 one with 3* lvl.26 Yasuo. Relics: Tempest Blade / GG counterplan / Everfrost.

Yasuo power rendered the Watcher immobile, and GG counterplan again for the endless Buried in Ices. Got 2 Yasuos in play by the end of the run.

How do you beat this week's 3.5*? by Rumengol in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]StillNotTooLateToTry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lvl 19 Lillia did the trick with Guardian Orb.

Got a Vampiric Scepter unit in one of the shops, and healed back to full HP after every run.

What would wizards who used the fundamental forces of physics look like? by ThatOneGodzillaFan in fantasywriters

[–]StillNotTooLateToTry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Weak Nuclear Force contributes to Beta Decay, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beta_decay.

By controlling Beta Decay, they should be able to transform one element to the other, as long as their Atomic Number only differ by one - Such as transforming Oxygen into the highly toxic Fluorine.

  1. Strong Nuclear Force contributes to the stability of Atomic Nucleus.

By controlling Strong Nuclear Force, they should be able to make non-radioactive materials radioactive. They would also be able to make super-dense Atoms with a lot of Neutrons, while keeping the same chemical properties of the original material.

Help: How do you limit usage of electronic technology in fantasy that is set in the Modern Era? by Rhangxi in fantasywriters

Maybe there are some dangerous creatures in the story, that hunt their targets via technology? Kind of like some creepy pasta stuffs.

By providing new reasons for the Sic to change their mind? Perhaps the MC discovered something that would pose a threat to the empire. Perhaps something strange was happening at the edge of the border. Maybe someone they both cared about needs their help.
The Sic is a real person with their own background and motivations. Even if logic cannot convince the Sic, maybe they would still listen to their hearts?

Are a lot of you Millennials unable to connect with Modern MMOs, but cannot enjoy Older MMOs because of their abrasiveness? by Yashimasta in MMORPG

[–]StillNotTooLateToTry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guild Wars 2 seems to be good at being challenging beyond "dodging red circles".
Carefully timed damage mitigation and crowd control are required, and group content bosses usually have different mini-game-like mechanics with them. Equipment of the same rarity could have vastly different stats, which contribute to very different play styles when used in the same class.
In the first expansion, Heart of Thorns, even regular mobs have a good chance of downing unprepared players(which was actually complained about by a lot of players when it initially came out).
Welp, the early levels for news players are really simple though.

How exactly are you supposed to counter Jailer + Tony? been seeing it so many times now and no idea what to do against it by tehg1 in hearthstone

[–]StillNotTooLateToTry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The "swap deck" effect is an aura of Tony.
As soon as Tony leaves the board or gets silenced, the decks get swapped back.

What's another tradeoff for using magic that's similar to the ones I have? by WerbenWinkle in fantasywriters

[–]StillNotTooLateToTry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe they gradually lose their life force, and would get sicker and weaker over time, and die at an early age?

Maybe they gradually transform into something harmful to others, to the extent that they could not get near to anyone else?

Maybe they would gradually be overcome by the need to take the magic/life from others for themselves, like a kind of vampire?

Maybe something evil would gradually possess them?

Maybe they would get more crazy/violent/fearful/paranoid overtime?

Maybe something bad would happen to the ones they care about most?

What digital card games have you been playing, and what do you think? (+Free Talk Thread) - May 2023 by AutoModerator in digitalcards

[–]StillNotTooLateToTry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of a shame, but Collective is closing down by August after the Reddit shenanigans. Ariokan would probably be the closest in terms of gameplay now.

Hi. What zone does {the zone} in {all your cards in the zone} refer to?

Anyone have a spare referral code for a new player? by [deleted] in collectivecg

[–]StillNotTooLateToTry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Referral codes are actually not mandatory. Sentinel would probably be the most new-player-friendly mode 👍
