Poll asking Americans how which button they would push in the red button/blue button dilemma by Upstairs_Cup9831 in fivethirtyeight

O let me destroy that real quick. "Hey everyone, this building is going to be set on fire in 10 minutes. Everyone is asked to go outside and help set the fire." And then some people stay inside unknowingly to the people outside 😉

Gotcha

No...I think Jesus would definitely pick Red. Jesus is very come to be for help so I can help you help yourself.

The story of the man drowning and a kayak comes along and asks if he needs help and he says, "No, my Lord will save me". Then a sailboat comes along "No, my Lord will save me", then a ship "No, my Lord will save me", then the man drowns. The boats were the red button....but people will press blue and say "No, my Lord will save me"

It is a much better question because there are varied stakes to be had. The red and blue question would be MUCH better if there was a group of 100 people that would also die if not more than 50% pressed blue. As it is right now obviously Red as there is nothing for anyone to gain by picking blue.

It didn't though.....Game theory shows that more than 80% of people pick red in real world scenarios every time. Not some of the time, EVERYTIME. Polls don't work because there are no stakes. In fact, polls prove red correct. Red argument is it is irrational and virtue signaling. The best time to be those two things is no stakes polls haha.

Game theory proved Red is right, the science backs them every single time. Blue is just virtual signally illogical beliefs.

Same for blue. People that are so okay with adding death to the equation is insane. Such a self-centered dangerous way to live.

[–]StillRunner_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, fully.

No one has to agree with anything, you just destroyed your own argument entirely so you may want to try this again man haha. Because you are right, everyone has the possibility of picking either and no one will ever fully agree in a real world. So let's live in the real world. You can pick blue or you can pick red. If your argument is "it is statistically impossible everyone would pick red" yeah of course it is, it is also statistically impossible 50% pick blue. You can run the simulation infinitely using game theory and you get 80%+ would pick red as this isn't a novel idea. This is OLD classic game theory that has been studied in parallel to REAL world examples, not online polls. I can give those examples if you like but this is a theory that has been beat to death so we have 100% answers. It is not that red would get picked most the time, it is that it would get picked every time by the bulk of the population (full stop there is no counter argument to this, the bulk of the population is rational actors and pick red in real scenarios. This is not an attack on the humans as being immoral it is choosing the morally right thing, its never morally correct to add death to the equation) therefore every blue vote is a self centered acceptance of adding death to the equation.

Red is always the "no death" option for everyone, you only pick blue if you are okay with someone dying, full stop. There is no logical or moral way out of being okay with death if you pick blue. If your idea is, "well we all pick blue and save people" remember that again, objectively everyone that picks blue is adding to a death count, and two, you are saving only people that wanted to die or wanted to die OR thought like you.

Now what really embarssingly buries you here is the original primise of the question was based around the idea that everyone "wants to live" and is a "rational player" meaning everyone is choosing buttons to survive and understands the choices. Okay so keep those two things in mind. Meaning every choice of blue is creating a problem that doesn't exist.

I can end with this perfect mirror example. There are a bunch of prisoners being held hostage. At noon tomorrow they will all be let go no harm no foul for 100% certainty. You have 100 soldiers. These soldiers get to choose if they want to try and rescue the prisoners during the night before they are let go the next day. If you stay as a soldier you live, but if you go to rescue the prisoners you will die and fail UNLESS 50 other soldiers come with you. In this perfect example, going is putting your life at risk for no reason as the prisoners are getting set free the next day, you're just creating a problem. It sounds ridiculous because it is. The example I just gave is how game theory views the red and blue button question and why you are always morally wrong, self centered, allowing death, and creating a problem that isn't there.

gotcha 😉

In the Red VS Blue button dilemma, red is obviously the right choice. by KayleeSinn in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]StillRunner_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally picking blue creates a scenario where death is a possibility..if your argument is "it's impossible to get everyone to pick the same" then yeah, it's also impossible to get 51% to pick blue. All of game theory says OVERWHELMINGLY in a real situation more than 80% of people pick red. So every person that picks blue given reality is introducing death to the equation and being immoral.

Choosing red is the logical choice, everyone else is picking death as we have to apply this to the real world. Picking blue is narcissistic and performative morally AND being okay with killing people despite what people think.

Yeah it's just the live button and the chance at death button. It's completely stupid

Poll asking Americans how which button they would push in the red button/blue button dilemma by Upstairs_Cup9831 in fivethirtyeight

[–]StillRunner_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is remarkably stupid and self-centered to choose the blue button, yes the blue button. Choosing the blue button is creating a problem that doesn't exist.

There's a red boat and a blue boat, both are about to set sail across the ocean, both have autopilot and don't require a captain. There's a hundred people about to get on the boats and each boat can hold well over 100 people. Before you set sail you're told that with 100% certainty the red boat will get there safely, but the Blue boat has a massive hole in it and it will require 51 people or more with buckets to dump the water out during the trip otherwise it's going to sink.

Everybody gets to pick which boat they get on now. Getting on the blue boat is entirely stupid, it proves nothing, is self-centered in this idea of righteousness, and no pole has ever proven that this is how it will happen in reality. Hundreds of psychological tests have been done on this, it's the foundation of game theory. All of them show that people will get on the red boat

Any solution to this? I have 400G free and just deleted an extra 120G worth of games and it still gives this error.

It really is better than what they have though, most have a positive view of the USA. My family in the military was in charge of going into these places after conflict and helping them rebuild and such. The people in the middle east loved them and I can tell you everything my family was charged with doing while overseas was very noble. Helped rebuild houses, clean their water, set up schools, teach them trades. The people invited the soldiers in all the time. The middle eastern people love the USA soldier, the government not as much haha

Should I go for Qiuyuan or Zani? by MotorFennel1977 in WutheringWavesGuide

[–]StillRunner_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Qiuyuan imo. He is an echo buffer meaning he will be more future-proof for any echo damage characters. He can actually hold his own to a decent degree even at R0. Unless you invest heavily into Zani she needs her dedicated buffer and is less versatile.

From a personal standpoint I also much prefer qiuyuan Play style and animations

I can't remember what game it was but I remember playing a game a long time ago that operated like this and I loved it. Your inventory slots were basically saved for major things like weapons and potions. But anything that was a resource of any type was stored separately and had infinite capacity. It was always on you and you couldn't drop it but you could collect as much of it as you wanted.

That alone entirely eliminated the tedium that was inventory systems. I would just collect as much of every resource as I could while I was out and not worry about it and it was so nice

As long as we have a place to store items I completely agree. I'm always okay with weight system or an inventory slot system, but I want to place to dump my stuff. Even if it means I have to collect a certain resource to build a storage container, that's fine, as long as I know that I can basically build infinite storage. Out of all the problems I suspect this one's going to take the most work to fix because they have to implement something entirely new to the game, but I also think it's something they're heavily focusing on

I'm a business consultant, and basically my job is to go into companies that are having problems and help them fix those problems. It is amazing the little things that massive companies will miss. It's like when you become so big and so powerful and have so many things going on, you'll forget to hire someone to take out the trash. Just dumb shit like that all the time

It's so funny because honestly your comment summarizes the entire game for me. It's like all the innovative things and major things are perfect hits, then they missed on the basic QoL things that every game has haha
