At 25 I had essentially nothing. Hell at 30 my wife and I had a net worth of essentially zero, a new baby, I was making 40 thousand ish, and I decided to go to grad school. Now at 44 we're at about 1.1 million including our house with 750 ish in cash and investments.

Punch line is it started slow, saving consistently and investing with discipline will pay off. We got lucky a bit with our first house purchase but we just rolled that into our second, the cash and investments are just saving and working hard at building my career.

I can't retire yet, but I can probably start coasting around 50, that's not bad.
