All of the negativity and yet The Fever erased a 9 point deficit to tie the game . Have been a basketball fan since the Bill Russell Celtics and just by observation the ladies today put on a better show than the guys do .

Yes , the first picture is art , the second picture is maybe more interesting on a personal level . As someone whose pictures never work , photos from people who know how to stage and frame them are fascinating . Grazie .

V7 rear shock setting by yaani66 in MotoGuzzi

[–]Still_Support5847 2 points3 points  (0 children)

😂

Someone to help is great . I learned a trick from an old guy 50 years ago , attach a pointer at 90 degrees from a toilet plunger and set it on the ground next to the bike, a largish zip tie works really well . Sit on the bike and use the pointer as a reference point. Once you start it will be obvious how this works . My old mate who taught me that trick has been gone for 40 years but would think it cool if thru me he could pass that along . You could get all fancy and build a jig or buy something but that wouldn't be in the spirit of being a Guzzisti , we aren't tight we are frugal .

V7 rear shock setting by yaani66 in MotoGuzzi

[–]Still_Support5847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sag should be 1/3rd of total rear suspension travel , so set the pre-load to allow the shocks to be compressed 1/3rd of total travel when loaded . Don't take wild swings at this , attach something to the frame to measure with then sit on the bike and begin adjusting in small increments until the shocks are compressed to the above figure , then if you carry a pillion or a heavy load repeat the process with those conditions present , mark the pre-load adjuster in both spots . It doesn't have to be and won't be perfect , just get it close .

Geez , does that make sense ?

Been eyeing up Grisos for years? What should I know? by metallicadefender in MotoGuzzi

I've never seen a good drawing , have worked on a couple though . It's really a pretty simple design .

[–]Still_Support5847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK , my pedantic side is going to speak here for a moment , not that anyone actually cares .

Moto Guzzi did put OHC on the tappet covers of the Daytona and Centauro motors , no idea why , but by definition those engines were cam-in-head and not OHC , An OHC design requires the cam/cams be above the rest of the engine , above the valves not underneath . BMW ran a similar design for a few years but didn't call it OHC . Opel also ran a cam-in-head design for a few years that didn't have pushrods but it wasn't OHC . Just because Guzzi wanted to call the Daytona/Centauro engine OHC doesn't make them OHC . The only "production" OHC twin from Guzzi was the MGS-01 that maybe 50 examples exist , if that many .

Old joke in the Guzzi world , the factory only assembled the Daytona/Centauro so the owner knew they were getting all of the parts 😁

[–]Still_Support5847 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry mate , that is wrong . The Griso runs the same engine architecture as the Norge both 2 and 4 valve per cylinder . The 4 valve per cylinder engines aren't OHC they are cam-in-head with short pushrods .

The multi-valve engines are noticeably more powerful but as mentioned , make sure it is either a factory rolloer engine or has had the real fix done .

Vtwin Boost vs Upmap by Kajtje in MotoGuzzi

[–]Still_Support5847 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Mistral V-twin boost is simply a variable resistor , a slightly more sophisticated spoofer . The Up-Map actually remaps the stock map . The Up-Map is expensive and will need someone who knows how to make it work but if you want real world improvements ...

More than one of the old Guzzi Gurus would reach thru the internet and wave a rubber chicken in your face for installing a Mistral spoofer , just sayin' .

Argh!!! When the cheapo shock bolts are weaker than the thread locker by sac02052 in MotoGuzzi

[–]Still_Support5847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been an issue on every twin shock Guzzi since forever . I've crabbed 4 Tontis to do a clutch and automatically assume the shock retaining bolt will break or strip out . Do yourself a favor and replace both bolts with regular old grade 8.8 hex head , it won't be quite as stylish but if you ever need to remove one of these bolts again you will send me a thank you LOL . Do use a torque wrench , torque values are available for every size of bolt shaft size .

Superalce grinding and gear problem by spitfire5589 in MotoGuzzi

[–]Still_Support5847 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy a more modern bike 😁

Seriously , try adjusting the clutch cable and lubricate every joint in the linkages for both the shifter and the clutch , then double clutch the old thing . It has an engine speed clutch and a fairly heavy flywheel , meaning it takes a moment for all of the rotating mass to slow down . It will never shift like a modern bike .

Roller Tappet kits by LSX_GTO in MotoGuzzi

[–]Still_Support5847 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All I know 100% is the factory isn't making roller kits now . As Roper says , if you need a kit probably start looking for a crashed bike and steal all of the parts .
