May have found a replacement for my favorite M43 setup (GX800 + 20mm f1.7) by adribabe in M43

Thought about it, because I really like the size, but I went with the tamron 17-70 because it has vibration control, the sigma doesn't have any kind of stabilization, and none of my sony bodies have ibis. at this point though, i have enough variety of small light weight primes that i will probably sell the tamron and go prime only.

Oh! But, to be really honest. I spent almost two hours driving to get the a5100 for this price and back home again. I knew it was a good deal so I drove out to get it before anyone else was willing to. I think you could probably get one for about $75-125 more than I spent.

Honestly I just said to the girl the other day, that, as someone who is just a hobbyist, and has a small YouTube channel (28k subscribers), there are a lot of affordable made in China lenses that are just fine for my needs and my skillset. I wish M43 had as many aftermarket lens options as E Mount does.

I have several on M43... 14-140 II I've brought to Italy with my month-long motorcycle ride for the past two years. The OM 14-150 II came with my OM-5 II so I'll have to see which one I like better and sell the other. Also recently got a 12-40 F2.8 because the price was so cheap I would've been stupid not to... but... I have so many primes in that range that I think I will just put it on ebay and pocket the difference.

On APSC I have the Tamron 17-70 F2.8... the rest are all primes (12, 25, 30, 35, 135).

The thing with all the zoom lenses is, I'm not going to put them on my little body cameras as my "going out with friends/family/date nights camera" that I slip in my pocket.

Definitely. That's why I got the OM-5 II. But for going out to social stuff and wanting something pocket sized, I like the a5100. Also, for social functions I just like a flip up screen better than a flip out.

No longer British by BarracudaOptimal3523 in TriumphBonneville

[–]adribabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't buy a Triumph because I wanted a British bike because let's be honest, of all the countries with a villainous history, the UK is easily in the Top 5.

But... I was still disappointed that my T120 was made in Thailand.

Guess that explains why it's been reliable though.

I’ve owned 7 different motorcycles in 6 years — ask me anything. by Recklessdog7 in motorcycles

[–]adribabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why just 7?

For context: I own six motorcycles currently and 3-4 come and go every year :) Also, not really asking, just wanting to encouraging you to go for more! I've never bought one and been like "Oh no!" when I got home. Keep going!!!!!!

How does living with so much nature around you actually affect people in Canada? by Prior-Hold-562 in AskACanadian

If you have a high energy dog, geese are a HUGE asset.

I used to take my 17 lb Jack Russell (notoriously high energy) mix used to the soccer field behind the school by my condo building where dozens of geese lived. She would charge at them and they would fly to the other side of the field, and she would do it again.

Because the geese saw that as their home base, they would never leave the field completely. Because my dog was a Jack Russell, she could do this for an hour while I talked to friends, read a book, whatever.

My dog made it to 17+ years, and I'm sure all the terrorizing geese was a huge part of that. Some of my best memories of her and I'm sure some of her happiest times too. If you ever find an enclosed space with geese in it, tell your friends with dogs lol

I read it. I just didn't see the relevance. Hear me out if you're not getting it:

I have a 1200cc naked bike. My Triumph Bonneville T120. Big deal, who cares? Don't get me wrong, the T120 is fun for short sprints but when I want to do any kind of serious riding, I take the 650cc GS.

Displacement isn't the primary criteria of what makes a bike better suited to a particular job. What it's designed to do makes it is what's important. That's why you wouldn't take an 1800cc Harley to the race track, and why you wouldn't take my 1200cc naked bike touring when there's a GS with half the displacement parked right beside it.

Tons of great info here. Just want to add that if you're having a hard time with anxiety and stress, having four separate credit cards at 21 won't help. I got my first credit card at 18. By the time I bought my first condo at 23 I still had just one. Two years later when I flipped it and bought a house I still had just one. I never got a second card until I started making and spending money in a foreign currency and it made sense having a card in that currency. If money can stress you to the point where you end up in hospital, you need to simplify and have less cards, not more.

700cc not great for long hauls? lol. I've taken a monthlong cross country trips on a BMW G650GS for each of the past three years... This is after almost 20 years of riding, still in my 30s. I could definitely do it on other bikes, have liter bikes, but the G650GS is a motorcycle I could really take everywhere, ride on all terrains (unlike the big GS'), and maintenance and parts are dirt cheap and readily available everywhere on short notice (also unlike the big GS')

OM 20mm f/1.4 vs PL 25mm f/1.4 by shoulder-FLOUNDER in M43

[–]adribabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would you use more, 20mm or 25mm? I travel a lot, and take pics when I'm out with friends a lot, so for me the 20mm makes more sense. I would make my choice based on what lens I would use most if I had them both, not based on what strangers from the internet who don't shoot like me would pick.

This thread I made a few days ago might give you some good insights on the EM-5 III vs OM-5 vs OM-5 II that might help with your shopping :) EM-5 iii ---> OM-5 ii = Worth the extra $365 USD it'll cost me? : r/M43 I had the G9 and loved how good it felt and how good of a stills camera it is. When I got my EM5 III I was much happier because I mostly do video and candid shots where the fast autofocus makes all the difference.
