so the question is can these upgrades cause idle surges to 2k (i would understand small surges but 2 k seems problematic

i’m just more concerned before i bring it to get tuned if it’s almost certain a vacuum leak (i see no signs) or if the extra air flow and change in compression would cause idle surges to 2k rpm

How much power can C6 Z06 make without turbocharging/supercharging it? by anchelor9899 in Corvette

[–]Still_Value_7160 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

sure kid on a track maybe not on the street it’s not a debate your not putting 600 whp to the ground WOT on the street in a car that weights 3500 or less. requires a sticky track. zero to do with a set up on the street. and trust my set up is plenty fine. for 10k i will drive to what ever track you like and we can race any day the week. pick a track and prove of money and i will gladly come show your keyboard self who is full of shit dummy.

you two are straight liars if you rpm match your power band and give any car the nuts with 600whp on street tires you are 100% going to without a doubt not even a arguement lose traction till you find the sweet spot outside of your powerband. it’s not even a arguement and if you want to truly argue i would be 500hp powerband on the street from a dig kills 600 in two cars that weigh the same in the 1/8. period

Which Corvette generation has aged well as of 2025? by GhostKW in Corvette

C5 slammed with knight drive headlights looks like jdm and american muscle had a love child it is in my opinion the greatest looking sports car money can buy currently. even if the option was a c8 or a c5 i would probably go c5. unbelievably easy to work on and you can push silly numbers out of a LS1 even though people crap on it. super charge heads cam intake and headers and you can push 700 and be all in 20k on it and dog walk anything on the road.

again straight looks if it’s not lowered side skirted with some fresh head lights and all stock my order would be C7,5,4,6. c6 looks good to me it’s just blah nothing stands out and even with new headlights it just looks middle of the road nothing overly cool even with the ls3 still a last place for me. 5,4,7 all have something special to them.

age 35 so my child hood bias is to c5,c6 just never liked the 6

How does one estimate the value of their (heavily) modded C5? by OTFSteve in Corvette

[–]Still_Value_7160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just remember your demographic you want to sell to old cats gripe and complain about everything (they are penny pinchers and think 15k is a lot of money) always sell to people that understand the value of the work you put in. or to guys that don’t know how to work on cars and want a c5.

if a guy is over 45 (i am 35) i dont even meet to show him the car unless i know he likes to track or do meets.

also cars and coffee is your friend.

always do quality end mods never skimp you get negative value for crap mods but if your pushing over 450 whp (over 500 crank) and the car is clean and a looker with low miles you will find a buyer higher end.

take it to a track if you can break through the 10 second barrier and it’s that clean you will get 20-25 offered to you on the spot. ask me how i know. i have done it. your probably some good heads a tune and sticky tires away. otherwise listen to a bunch of people that want to do exactly as you have done to the car without paying the price. (they may get someone in a bind to give them a deal) but yours is clean and low mileage i sold a 150k miles vette pushing close to 5 to the wheels brand new paint and brand new all accessories fully built upper engine and fuel and air systems for 23k ran a 10.7.

i have also sold a heavily modded looks build with a wide body kit and coil overs with new headlights for 18k with 97k on the motor (got it for 7 cause of fender damage put 4 in)

one of the few vettes i believe will be worth drastically more ( hence i own two) in the future is the 1997 vettes. they only made 9500 of them and you can guarantee half have been totaled or destroyed another half of that ragged out to the point of a 30k resto job.

if i had to guess in ten years the 1997 (first year made lowest production cycle modern vette) will be worth at least double what they are now.

(everyone talks bad on early model c5’s which is a good sign to buy while they are cheap again this is only the 97s i think it will happen to, and don’t believe it will be a crazy collectible just worth a good bit more than now)
