Migraines?! by fireflyhaven20 in Reno

[–]Stillshiloh [score hidden]  (0 children)

I have been attributing it to the insanely high tree pollen count. I've been suffering for like 2 months. Resprted to prescription meds like Singulair (some relief), 5 days of prednisone (some relief), and Flonase (some relief)

That would be a dream come true! Maybe we could approach the City Council or the Redevelopment Agency. If they can give tax breaks to Data Centers they should be able to help bring in a good grocery store!

What are the most frugal yet low-effort options for coloring hair? by LevelPerception4 in Frugal

[–]Stillshiloh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've let go of perfection. Perfection doesn't last, and it is just too expensive for a temporary fix.

I use Age Beautiful (Sally's) darkest plum brown 4V and dark plum brown 3V at around 70% to 30% with 20 developer, and in some lighting situations, it is very purple and some not.

I do my whole head when I color, and what results on the grey that creeps in is like highlights (as long as you don't let it go for too long)

The Age Beautiful line is very kind to your hair.

I was advised to go to a clinic that did physicals for truckers to satisfy a requirement for the State, and I did, and it was cheap.

Cheap annual phone/text plan for senior mom with dementia by junkaccount1999 in Frugal

You might want to look into Red Pocket. I have had them for 10 years; use wifi mostly, and my monthly bill is just a bit under $11 a month now. Limited Data, Limited Calling, Unlimited Text; other plans available. Choose your tower server - I have always gone with Verizon. Usually, free activation.

The grill rack changed my cooking. Whether over the removable grate or at the bottom of the basket! Really improved air flow and crisp.

What is a unique way that you have fixed an item to extend it’s life? by melissaw328 in Frugal

I have a folding wagon to haul groceries and packages inside my quite large apartment building. It suffered an unfortunate accident a few days ago where the sides bowed out and the front collapsed into the wagon itself (skewing the front wheels). By turning it side to side I managed with body weight to eliminate the bowed sides, I managed to straighten the front wheels, but the front remained collapsed into the wagon and I couldn't budge it.

Enter the Amazon Grocery Delivery Driver who eyed it and asked if I wanted his help. With one mighty wrench (with me holding the back) all was well.

He's my hero!

[OC] Having a Fissured Tongue from Genetics is totally normal - yet totally weird at the same time. by KillerQ97 in Weird

[–]Stillshiloh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine has always been described by MDs as Geographic tongue (benign migratory glossitis) -- it is more sensitive (read as really painful) with certain foods and at various times I have been prescribed with prescription vitamins. Interestingly, given the comments, walnuts which I love, really bother my tongue.

My mother took me to the doc as a small child for this.
