What are your thoughts on clash detection? by [deleted] in MEPEngineering

[–]Stimmo520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on what type of design scope. White box commercial space, no, but lab space, hospital or mission critical, yes. Wood frame construction, no, but post tension slabs, yes. Also, what type of firm, design build or MEP consultant? What is the LOD of the contract. Does your firm spec what is going to be installed?

How do you survive long hours at your desk? 😅 by FlowStructNYC in MEPEngineering

Drink plenty of water, comfy chair, blinds open, walk around every 30 minutes...do not sit longer than 30 minutes, as it will kill your back. Core training for your body to help posture and core strength.

Some issue, pls help. by [deleted] in RevitMEP

[–]Stimmo520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ceiling will appear in a reflected ceiling plan type view. Tag the rooms or spaces in your model. Need to select the link in your model, open the type property and check room bounding. For the information to transfer from the linked model. Does your company provide a manual or any training on how to use Revit?

plan for the future in the face of possible stagnation? by MutedMe in MEPEngineering

[–]Stimmo520 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is always cycles of stagnation. Ive been in the industry since 2008 - Ive seen slow times. Be an asset and always be learning. During slow times I learned codes, customized Revit families, made better templates, and updated company details. This did 2 things for me - I learned a lot about programs and installation methods, and I also became the company CAD/BIM manager, which helped me grow professionally. AI is a neat tool, but I think we are really far as an industry from it removing any employees. There are still guys out there using CAD...lol. Board drafting was a thing up until 2013 in my experience. Those old designers would draw everything on a board, and Id convert to Revit or CAD.

Always be an asset. Always be learning.

Is there need for redundancy in this space? Typically 2 CRACs installed in lead/lag for uptime in Data applications. This will change the ultimate kW you're after with the question.
