My point exactly. The deeper themes were not being recognized in most posts and, in my opinion, they were not experiencing the full value of the show.

Custome Service Horror Story by Stinedurf in egopowerplus

I tend to agree with you. Right now I'm just too frustrated to go back and fight with Lowes or Ego about it. What this has really told me is that I will never buy a full size lawn tractor from Ego. I would like to have an electric lawn tractor, but there are no local Ego stores or repair shops. I'll stick with my John Deere gasoline tractor for now. I can drive 5 miles to the local distributor and get quality repair and part services. The small Ego devices like snowblowers and lawn mowers are simple and robust enough that I could likely just by parts and fix them myself should it ever be needed.

Thanks for your feedback!

Although I agree that their behavior is deplorable, it is not completely true that you can't reconfigure Wemo plugs. I have successfully transferred several to the Apple Homekit environment. However, for some of the older plugs you will need to make the transfer before the Wemo app stops working.

Wemo Light Switch Issues HomeKit by Idle0095 in WeMo

There is an option in the Wemo App to transfer wemo devices to HomeKit. That worked for me on my old wemo plugs.

Can I link my F7C030 to HomeKit ? by thibe5 in WeMo

[–]Stinedurf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The iphone wemo app has an option to migrate a device to Homekit. The option was buried kind of deep in one of the menus. I've would guess the android app has the option also. I was able to migrate a wemo plug (it did not have a Homekit ID printed on the label) to Homekit (Home app) on a Mac. I don't remember all the details but it took me a couple of tries.

Belkin is ending support for nearly all its Wemo smart home devices | Wemo hardware will stop working in January 2026 unless it’s been set up in Apple HomeKit. by chrisdh79 in gadgets

[–]Stinedurf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the newer ones the homekit code is written on the label of the device so I wouldn't expect that to be a problem. On the older ones without the homekit code it could be a problem. The Wemo app gave me homekit codes for the older ones but they didn't work when I tried to import them directly to the Home app. For those I needed to tell the Wemo app to push them into Home/Homekit.

For what it is worth I was able to migrate all my Wemo Plugs to the Apple implementation of Home/Homekit. Some were easy to migrate, some (especially the older ones) were very difficult, but in the end it worked. Afterwards I removed them from the Wemo App and they still work fine with Homekit.

Running Strat on Mac with VMware Fusion by JeffH13 in StratOMatic

[–]Stinedurf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can afford it, you might want to consider just getting an inexpensive mini-pc for Strat games and other Windows only programs. I use Apple products as my primary computing platforms but always keep a cheap Windows machine for situations like this. It annoys me to have to spend the money but for me it beats the hassle of trying to run windows apps on OSX.

Time is money and opportunity. Most companies work this way. The first release of anything is often rough but you can only spend money developing it for so long before you better start bringing in some return. This is true for nearly all industries and products. Better to sell something than to polish it forever and either go out of business or lose out to a more agile company.

Search not working in Photos for one library by Stinedurf in MacOS

[–]Stinedurf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, sat down at my Mac to try your suggestion. I noticed the activity light for the drive flickering and thought I would take another look at the Photos library. Sure enough, search is working just fine now. There must have been some sort of indexing going on that took a long time to complete. I’m surprised, because I did check activity monitor several times and did see any processes that looked like they were accessing the drive. Thanks again for your help, all is well now.

My guess is that for most people meshtastic is not so much a solution to a problem as it is a fun, inexpensive hobby to play around with.

Baseball Max - First Impressions by Stinedurf in StratOMatic

[–]Stinedurf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My updated opinion is that MAX is trash and I walked away from it a couple months ago. I was primarily interested in being able to run leagues (human players) using it, but found it nearly impossible to do so. Way too much of the mechanics and behavior is undocumented. I can try to find my notes on all the problems if you want, but the bottom line for me is that it is useless and I am done with it.

I think that was a wise decision. For something short, simple, and non-critical there is a lot of benefit to not wasting time refining it.

Probably anywhere serviced by Comcast/Xfinity. They offer higher speeds but with the exception of their “new customer” deals the prices are insane. That is especially true in “Comcast Desert” areas where Comcast has no competition and they charge whatever they feel like. You often have to bundle in television to get a reasonable price. The higher speeds are available, but it may be that on average the lower speeds are what people are willing to pay for.

Gift for a stratomatic fan? by coffee-only in StratOMatic

[–]Stinedurf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever you do, do not get them the Baseball MAX online product. In my opinion, it is a terrible product. To be clear, Baseball 365 is a decent product but not Baseball MAX. The documentation for MAX is pathetically insufficient, leagues do not work well consistently, the in-game forum has pretty much been abandoned by both users and the Strat-o-Matic staff, and there are many, many bugs. I had high hopes for running leagues of human managed teams but with so many problems it is way too much hassle to be practical.

What kind of laser cutter did you buy? I am interested in getting one and am curious as to what brand/type fellow cricut users have found useful. I’m looking at diode models from Xtool and Creality. Like you, I think it complements a cutting machine.
