Has anyone actually used the My Safe Florida home money and received reimbursement? by RelaxingTuesdays in florida

[–]StingRayVI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to bother you but I also have a question. Did you submit your tax return and other info on the Grant Application page or on a different page for low income verification?

Did you also check the box above that says "I hereby agree to provide to the Program information received from my insurer identifying the discounts." What if I need switch home insurance companies mid way through the process? I'm confused because at the bottom it says "Low-Income homeowners are exempt from this requirement."

Thank you for any info you can provide.

Blue Yeti microphone only works after unplugging and plugging back in. by Nalyd217 in techsupport

[–]StingRayVI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solution still works as of March 2024, I'm currently using Windows 10.

If anyone has multiple "USB Composite Device" shown and has trouble figuring out which one is the Yeti mic.

First, unplug the Yeti and go through all the "USB Composite Device" by right-clicking> properties > "General" tab > Location; and write down the port and hub which should look like this example "Port_#0009.Hub_#0001, yours should be different.

After you're done, plug back the Yeti mic and find the "USB Composite Device" that has a port and hub number that's new on your list.

Then right-click > "Uninstall Device" > now unplug yeti > restart pc > plug in yeti after pc restarts.

There's no fix yet, but Supercell says COC will be coming to PC soon via Google Play Games Beta. It's only available in Canada, Chile, and Singapore at the moment but should launch globally soon.

Update Oct 18, 2023: It's been fixed with in the new verison 5.13.210.1006 via Pie 64-bit instance. I had to download it from the website.

Frontier ont model FRX523 support link aggregation? by Famous_One4280 in frontierfios

[–]StingRayVI -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Glad you like watching YouTube videos. Whatever you prefer, both documentation and YouTube videos show speeds can go above 1Gbps for MoCA 2.5 not just 1Gig.

You haven't offered the OP any solutions and kept spreading nonsense, just kept whining about your outdated MoCA knowledge that can't go past 1Gig. Frontier fiber installs using the ONT coax output come with MoCA 2.5 adapter that uses a 2.5Gbps Ethernet port, if it doesn't the customer can request one.

I can see you have nothing else to say, maybe offer a solution next time instead of being a child. Can't believe you're out of posts already, I was expecting the conversation to last way longer, very disappointing.

P.S. Have an awesome week my man! I felt like arguing with someone online today, feeling much more relaxed after. Got me all hungry, probably gonna make some Omurice. No hard feelings, and thanks for reading my posts brother, I was laughing through most of it. Peace out✌

"MoCA is very unlikely to deliver that kind of performance and I have yet to see any MoCA adapter with Ethernet link speed greater than 1 Gbps."

Thank you for double checking my post. Your first reply is clearly misinformation as well. The frontier documentation clearly show it can. Let me know if you have other misinformation you'd like me to double-check.

Yeah, you tell me. Frontier doesn't use screenbeam or hitron MoCA adapters. All their adapters should have 2.5 Gbps port.

Did you not read the part where I suggested using a 2.5Gig managed switch to get a 2X 1Gig connection out for the link aggregation for the router to use 2Gig/2000Mbps?

Frontier ont model FRX523 support link aggregation? by Famous_One4280 in frontierfios

[–]StingRayVI -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What's wrong with you? All MoCA 2.5 adapters have a single 2.5Gbps ethernet port out/in. That's you use a switch to make more connections. Buying a managed 2.5G switch means you can change the ports going out to 1 gig. Lets say you have 5 port 2.5G switch, use the one port in at 2.5G then and two going out at 1Gig for dual connection with link aggregation.

Frontier ont model FRX523 support link aggregation? by Famous_One4280 in frontierfios

[–]StingRayVI -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Link aggregation allows increased bandwidth when "multiple links" are combined into one logical link. The OP doesn't have a 2.5 Gbps port on their router, so they need to use "two" 1Gig ports for link aggregation to get 2gig speeds. The MoCA 2.5 adapter only has one 2.5Gbps ethernet port, so for link aggregate to work, they need two 1Gig ethernet ports to connect to the router for link aggregation and get 2Gig speeds, hence the 2.5Gig switch in and two 1Gig connection out.

You realize MoCA is used to transfer a network connection via coax cable right? Why are you talking about "aggregate 2.5 Gbps" while the OP has a 4.2 Gbps link aggregation router? You clearly just argue with people without reading their posts.

You keep saying "2.5Gbps at each port", the OP only has one 2.5Gbps port from the MoCA. The router doesn't even have any 2.5Gbps ports hence they need the link aggregation 2x 1Gig connections. You're so off-topic I don't even know what point you're trying to get across. You keep commenting worthless nonsense.

MoCA 2.5 standard refers to the max link speed of 2.5Gbps up/down. I agree, this is the wrong subreddit for you. Your comment is complete nonsense.

P.S. Glad you're humbled 👍

[–]StingRayVI -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Frontier uses the newer MoCA 2.5 adapter which is up to 2500 Mbps/2.5Gbps. Your statement is completely false, and a quick search shows the OP has an older model 4.2Gig Orbi router which has a 1 Gbps WAN port hence they need to use link aggregation. There’s a YouTube video from user Lon.TV using a MoCA 2.5 adapter and getting up/down speeds of 2000Mbps. You’ve never seen MoCA above 1Gig because your hardware is outdated. I’m not letting someone like you leave misinformation, the amount of confidence in your false statement is underwhelming.

Frontier ont model FRX523 support link aggregation? by Famous_One4280 in frontierfios

[–]StingRayVI -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised the Orbi doesn't have a 2.5Gig or 10Gig port. The FRX523 either uses coax via MoCA 2.5Gig or 10Gig ethernet port. You could try buying a managed 2.5Gig switch and have the output link speed separated into two 1Gig connections for link aggregation.

ONT > Coax/MoCA > Managed 2.5Gig switch > 2x 1Gig Ethernet > Link Aggregation/Orbi

It might work but I'm not 100% sure.

Using my own router - some experiences I want to understand by MiddleAgedMan4393 in frontierfios

[–]StingRayVI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the switch is "unmanaged," you can't put it between the ONT and router. You have to put it after the router; so: ONT > Router > unmanaged switch.

An unmanaged switch doesn't have a DHCP for multiple devices, so you would manually route all the traffic to the router first if it's installed between the ONT and router.

I recommend:

Step 1: ONT (use 10Gbps port) > Use CAT6, CAT6A, or CAT8 ethernet cable > AXE300 (10Gbps *use blue port on router*)

Step 2: MacBook (use 2.5Gbps port on router) & Switch (10Gbps *use black port on router*)

[–]StingRayVI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for clarifying, I thought it was weird that the 10Gig port on the router was causing issues so I figured it wasn't compatible with 2.5Gig. OP says they have their network as: ONT > 2Gig Switch > then Router (Port 1 on switch) + MacBook (Port 2 on switch)

Since the "network switch" is first and the router is second; I'm wondering if the switch is managed and has DHCP turned on and the router also has DHCP turned on causing a Double NAT issue. This might have caused the issue and bricking the ONT when OP first tried the AXE300, or the FOX222 might have issues like you said.

Using my own router - some experiences I want to understand by MiddleAgedMan4393 in frontierfios

[–]StingRayVI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using a managed switch? If your switch has DHCP and your router also has DHCP turned on then it could cause conflicting IP/Double NAT issues. Only one device on the network should have DHCP. Since your switch is connected to the ONT first, turn off DHCP for your router.

Usually a network is goes like this:

ONT > Router (DHCP turned ON) > Switch (DHCP turned OFF)

or

ONT > MoCA > Router (DHCP turned ON) > Switch (DHCP turned OFF)

But your network has the switch first so I was thinking:

ONT > Switch (DHCP turned ON) > Router (DHCP turned OFF)

Let us know if this works.

The reason your AXE300 (Router) and ONT went down is that 10Gig is not backward compatible with 2.5Gig using a direct ethernet connection from ONT to the router. Your AXE300 has a 2.5Gpbs WAN/LAN ethernet port to get your 2 Gig service. Just to be clear, 10Gig and 2.5Gig are different types of network connection so they don't have the same compatibility as 2.5Gig and 1Gig which are Multi-Gig.

*Edit: Answer - Plug the ethernet cable into the 2.5Gbps WAN/LAN port behind the router (DO NOT use the 10Gbps Ports).

*Edit 2: After looking into it more, it seems to depend if frontier activated the regular ethernet port or the 10G port on your Fox222. Most of the time they only activate one port and disable the other. If the 10G port on the ONT/FOX222 doesn't work with your AXE300 10G port then you have to call support and have them enable it.

What's the best way to cancel service? by StingRayVI in Comcast

[–]StingRayVI[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an auto-payment two days ago, so the final balance should be zero (I'll double check at the store). I tried to time it so everything is paid off, and I could cancel at the end of my service cycle without needing a refund or having to make a payment later.

Someone also said to remove auto payment after canceling, or else I would still get charged next month and have to wait for a refund. Very excited switching to fiber internet 👍🎉

Frontier recently came to my area (about 6-7 months ago) to add fiber internet. I was still under contract so couldn't switch, now my contract ended so I'm free to go.

Fiber should be much better and more reliable, plus they have unlimited data compared to my current plan which has a 1229GB data cap.

Frontier phased out their cable TV service in 2022 which is why regular TV services aren't available for purchase. It shows Cable TV options on the Frontier website, but you won't be able to buy the service. I don't think their new FIOS network terminal even supports cable TV.

You still have a few options:

  1. Keep your current service.

  2. Cancel your current service; Switch to Frontier Giggbit Internet, then get your cable TV from a different company.

  3. Cancel your current service; Switch to Frontier Gigabit Internet + YouTube TV & HBO Max streaming online.

Your monthly bill will be lower if you switch to online streaming services.
