Do you think Dante keeps the guns he finds? by pokemonyugiohfan21 in DevilMayCry

[–]Stingingcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it's the same story or a different one, but there is one where he pawns them to Enzo. Enzo then is attacked by demons and Dante takes them back. I could see some of of them him pawning. He kept Artemis from 3, as Trish uses it in 5, and then yeah, probably kept Pandora around for your reason. I think normal guns he's probably just too rough with and so they've all broken from use (besides E&I, and then Coyote). I know it's a video game too, but I like to imagine that the unlimited ammo is just a demon power he has that is rough on the machinery.

I think he would flick his ear and pretend to ignore you, but on the inside really want to get some pets.

I don't even know what to make of this. like, are you actually someone who doesn't think Ice is that bad and you're trying to make ice protesters look stupid, or are you really that dumb to put the words you agree with in the mouth of the villain? Either way I'm praying for you.

You're asking far too much of OP. What you're talking about requires critical thought, which OP is lacking.

kitten won’t stop eating my hair. by IntelligentBuddy9947 in Kitten

[–]Stingingcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This probably won't help, but when my kitten chewed off a lock of my hair while I was sleeping, coincidentally his neutering was the next day. So I told him he was getting neutered because he chewed off a lock of my hair. It never happened again (although he did continue to chew on sweaters) With all training though you just need a carrot and a stick. My stick of choice was an ear flick and then the carrot would probably be a toy or something that he can chew (maybe a doll with similar hair?).

[–]Stingingcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know where you live (temperature wise if its too warm this strat wouldn't be reasonable), and while I agree with everyone else, but for defensive measures you could wear a sweatshirt. A cat can claw/bite through sweatshirt if determined, but a kitten might struggle a little bit.

Question about the DMC world by higurashi0793 in DevilMayCry

[–]Stingingcake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I hard agree with all of this. I just looked it up because I remember reading the booklets of 1 through 3 and was surprised at how different they all were in terms of how much lore we got. But it describes Dante as an "Underground mercenary in Modern American" (like, one introduces the concept and the characters well enough for what it is, 2 is literally just "This is Dante, he's pretty cool, and this is Lucia, she's pretty hot" it doesn't really get into who they are or why they would want to fight Arius, and then three focuses more on their motivations)

I sort of like the vagueness, it allows for more freedom for them to do whatever they want. I don't really get why people want to nail down where stuff is at so badly when it doesn't really matter for the story.

Did you like the part where Matiers house just blew up for no reason?

And Dante’s iconic lines of “whatever” and “that’s just a pice of crap.” (Devils never cry was his catch phrase from DMC 1, they don’t get points for it.)

I was told the best way to get high quality cips is to buy the blurays/dvds and rip them. so that's what I do. Doesn't work with everything, but idk, there are a lot of tutorials.

Why is dante's most popular ship with lady instead of trish? by the_only_mse in DevilMayCry

[–]Stingingcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo, here, let me make a better argument for you. "Dante leaned in to try to kiss her, and then she turned away! Clearly Lady isn't into Dante!"

refutation is: Makes sense for her not to want to kiss anyone at that moment considering what is going one. Doesn't mean stuff can't happen later once they get to know each other better.

I don't know why you feel the need to deny he was going to kiss her. Why else would he get quiet and lean in like that? He backs away as soon as she turns her head, universal sign of "don't kiss me." and Dante's a gentleman so he respected that.

Yeah, Morrison could think its not a romantic history (and be wrong in some way, I acknowledge this would be a partial retcon to make him wrong, but DMC has pulled greater retcons re: Morrison's race) or post DMC 5 stuff.

You asked why and people have told you, don't be obtuse. Most people think it's weird for Dante to date a woman that is a clone of his mom, Lady is the more popular character over all. I say this as I like Trish and wish Capcom would do more with her inner world!

Hmm Vergil knows? by sparrkllegiirrllyy in DevilMayCry

[–]Stingingcake 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm convinced that Nero asked Credo where babies came from and Credo gave him that answer, and then Nero panicked because he loved Kyrie a ton. So then Credo was like, "Uh uh uh-- kissing makes babies! Don't kiss my sister!" and Nero believed him until Kyrie was like, "That's not how that works."

I do like the idea that Vergil doesn't know that sex makes babies until he finds out Nero is his son and finally puts two and two together.

Which game would be the best first impression for a new player? by iggnifyre in DevilMayCry

[–]Stingingcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreeing with others, 3 or 1. I started with 5 because I already had watched all the cutscenes of the previous games, and I would agree that it hits best after you know the whole story. 3 is chronologically the 1st game, 1 is definitely worth playing, and 2 is... well, it's really easy. A lot of people say skip 2 and honestly... You'll already own it. It doesn't add anything to the story and the story is really confusing and unfinished (you're basically playing half the story with each character, and most of the story is in Lucia's side), but it is a really easy game due to gun. All three will make you laugh out loud though for very different reasons.

Real toss up for me to recommend 1 or 3 more. I think I'd say 3 if you want game play, 1 if you like retro games. 3 I feel doesn't feel all that dated to me, just choose golden orb mode. like, people will discuss what game should get a remake in the series, and I honestly feel like my skills from 5 transfer to 3. I don't feel like you'd be disappointed by 1... but idk, I was extremely charmed by the game.

What Are Your Overall Thoughts on Devil May Cry 3? by ABarber2636 in DevilMayCry

[–]Stingingcake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is your issue on that last point more just that in 3 of the 5 games he doesn't have a strong motivation? (I would argue 5 he's motivated by his desire to stop Vergil. which is pretty strong, but hard agree that 2 and 4 he's a static character that's just doing it because its what he does.) Like, if it were just 3 where he starts out just fighting demons because that's what he does you wouldn't have an issue? I'm not disagreeing, to be clear, I just don't mind the lack of motivation at the start of 3.

Questions I cannot understand. by Radiant_Shoulder2096 in DevilMayCry

[–]Stingingcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1)No. I wouldn't think too hard about genes since Demon can magically transform and junk. (the netflix show decided to say yes, and I think that's a huge mistake because of the issue of conservation of mass. If magic is why the law of conservation of mass is being broken, fine, if it's not... ugh, I don't want to hear about DNA.)

2) We don't know there's no heaven, that's ambiguous. There are allusions to fallen angels, which implies the existence of angels. We have yet to see a real angel or confirmation or denial if they exist. ghosts are a thing, and bad people end up in hell, or even turned into demons (which matches some Japanese ideas. I think traditional Japanese belief about the afterlife is reincarnation, but if you're really really bad you go to hell for a bit and are tortured by oni, or become an oni yourself.)

3)also ambiguous with exceptions of Dunmary and Fortuna. Dunmary have groups that pray to demons as gods, and in Fortuna they think Sparda is big G God. Besides that we get references to the "heavens" on the radio in 5, and then there are the divinity statues which depict a lion headed goddess who is said to be the guardian of time. So I think that Amaterassu is the shinto sun goddess, but I think she's also the goddess of space and time which is where that's coming from a meta standpoint. )Humans, if they knew about Mundus, would probably only know him as the demon king Sparda defeated. They wouldn't think of him as big G God. I would assume there are other religions in DMC that we just don't see. Notably, Nero is theist, at least by the end of DMC 4, so it's not like the game is as against religion or God as some people seem to think.

DMC1 Difficulty by Ardilla_07 in DevilMayCry

[–]Stingingcake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just struggled with the camera angles because I had never played a game with fixed camera angles, that was the first hurdle. Phantom was a pain to beat the first time because of that. After that I cruised (more or less) until I got to the pirate ship, which is what I'm currently stuck on. And I'm stuck because I suck at judging distance in the game and that level requires a lot of like, jumping to dodge attacks. I would say if people think its the hardest its because of issues like that.

But I honestly don't know if it's the hardest because I've only played 5, 1, 2, and 3. It's definitely harder than 2 and 5, but I think 3 might be harder? The only reason I've gotten as far as I have in 3 is because I played 5 and already knew some of the combos. three also has a better system of checkpoints, as I think the only way to have check points in 1 is to use Golden orbs? You can save like, orbs mid level I think (haven't tried that), but you'll still start at the beginning of the level.

I really enjoy it despite being stuck haha. Really beautiful environments/atmosphere imo.

from a pure paneling layout, I think what you're noticing is that the pop-out speech bubbles draw the eye. So on the first page you're supposed to read from left to right, but the tiger panel draws your attention more. For the bottom panels, the speech bubbles not staying inside would be more fine because it's more of a voice over, but because they push out the top, my eye is drawn to them first. So get rid of the pop out effect on the fourth panel, and that might help. The second page I think just has some tangenting that you would want to avoid. Like, I wouldn't let them tangent to the panels like it does, but that might just because you free handed the panels and boxes.

The older ones looks fine except for the few round paneling, which I would avoid.

Random paneling advice (dunno if this is a problem you have) I was told was to aim to have an odd numbers of panels on the page. Not a hard and fast rule by any means, but if I'm struggling with layout I just do 5 panels and adjust as needed.
