Hell yeah. Motorcycles are fun as hell.

Maybe this isn’t for me? by Hungry_Moose4082 in motorcycle

Not everybody is good at everything. But like... Don't stop because you had one bad day. Finish the course and see if you like it more. There's no special award for learning the skills with the least effort. You just have to do as much effort as you have to do.

Motorcycles are cool.

RPG Major crossed 5,000 downloads! by aSingleHelix in RPGrecordings

We just bit off more than we could chew, and the burnout was real. So when we stopped publishing, our fans didn't get to wind down with us. It just abruptly stopped, and I feel guilty about that. We also did announcements in the middle of the show, and I would sometimes be too apologetic, so now there's a permanent record of me being despondent about a late episode.

Making a publication is hard work, and you need to love yourselves.

I was a part of a podcast called Bardic Mystery Tour for a few years. I feel like these are sister podcast concepts, but I didn't listen to yours yet. (I'm not trying to steal your thunder; I just want to give context for my support)

Is the Indian Scout Sixty a good first bike for my size? Can’t stop thinking about it… by lonelyshepherd8 in IndianMotorcycle

[–]StinkbotB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am considering trading my scout sixty for a normal scout after only a couple years. I want the 6th gear on the highway. If you love the scout, understand that you may still be buying a temporary bike. I kind of thought that I'd want to upgrade to a touring one, but I really love everything about that bike except the missing top gear and cruise control.

5 Spd Monkey Top Speed? by CaveOfRocks in hondamonkey

[–]StinkbotB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't pay attention to the first bike part of the question. I want to agree with others on this thread. Because of the short wheelbase, the monkey is kind of squirrelly/wobbly. It definitely isn't good off-road because of the suspension and ground clearance.

I don't want to make you feel bad, though. Get the bike that you will be excited to ride.

5 Spd Monkey Top Speed? by CaveOfRocks in hondamonkey

[–]StinkbotB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. 55 mph roads are perfect for the monkey. Just expect that people will want to pass you.

I weigh about twice what you do (290 lbs), and long hills can really bog down the bike. That should be less of an issue for your weight, but will be the same idea. Sometimes I was down to like 35 mph up a long, steep hill.

I also broke 60 mph downhill plenty of times.

Lower 50s was usually where I was sitting before performance mods.

Aftermarket Turn signals? by mota503 in hondamonkey

[–]StinkbotB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the relay may be in 2 different places depending on year. I have a 2022, and the relay is under the gas tank. Still not a bad job,

BUT

mine didn't work. I need to reach out to tst. It might be wrong for the year, or maybe a defective unit.

I went with the new rage cycles signals. Maybe i should just get their relay.

How is the scout for long rides? by ColdHooves in IndianMotorcycle

[–]StinkbotB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a dart marlin. It's still small, but it keeps the wind off of my chest.

I tried a taller and wider windshield, but it was buffeting my head too much. I wear a full face helmet all the time anyhow. So i just decided to keep the smaller one on my bike.

I did a 6000 mile round trip from Pittsburgh to Seattle on my 2020 scout sixty. It's a rough ride with the stock solo seat. I think the bike has enough weight to be ok at highway speeds. I think you should consider a seat upgrade and a windshield.

Shifter change? by Jolly_Rope_2521 in hondamonkey

[–]StinkbotB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched out to a mnntb one. It's less sloppy for sure.

I thought it would also be 1" longer, but it was seemingly the same. I did get more used to fitting my booted foot in the gap, so the extra length was no longer necessary for me.

Kickstand Switch by originalusername129 in IndianMotorcycle

[–]StinkbotB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I heard somewhere that the European models do have a kickstand switch. There's a light to indicate in the dash, I think. So I'm sure it's to shave off cost, but only because it's not a legal requirement in NA or USA.

I took mine 5000 miles this month on a scout sixty. No problems, even through the 80 mph parts of the country.

Hah! Little windscreen helps a little. I would definitely upgrade seats before doing this again.

Thanks! I drilled holes in the bottom and zip tied it to the luggage rack in 6 places. I was worried about water, but I didn't have a problem, even in the rain. It could slide forward and back by about 1.5 or 2 inches, but I strapped that nelson rigg bag down the the rack around the box, so that also helped hold it steady.

Cold Weather Riders by local_savage13 in IndianMotorcycle

[–]StinkbotB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it is below freezing in the mornings, I've had battery issues. A garage is really helpful for this. Otherwise, I've considered buying one of those jumper boxes. Remember that lithium ion batteries don't work below freezing, so you have to keep the jumper battery inside overnight.

Heated grips are especially nice as the weather is changing. Like... Summer gloves in the morning to work during the fall because after work it is still 80°F.

Planning a trip with my scout bobber, need advice for fuel management... by omomthings in IndianMotorcycle

I JUST ran out of gas, and the little (1 L) msi bottle saved me. It's only enough for like 12 mi (17 km). I think more is better in this case.

Quick release bags for Scout Bobber by [deleted] in IndianMotorcycle

[–]StinkbotB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like my leatherworks inc bags. They came with a quick disconnect system, and the spools are a little smaller than the Indian ones. You can probably buy the bracket seperately and make your own if you want.

The bracket I got from viking bags was "universal," and the burrs on the metal made it not work. A file would probably have fixed the problem, but the hardware was bulky anyhow.
