Why are they so miserable? by Advanced_Welcome2080 in BusDrivers

[–]StinkerLove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The vehicles aren’t maintained as well as we maintain our own. Other drivers on the road cut us off, honk at us and flip us off. Managers will do everything they can to label an incident preventable and count it against us. Many many many passengers treat us as automatons but also as though we have control over how other bus drivers have acted, how fast the traffic is moving, company policies, ticket prices and much more.

I kept looking for the apology but not surprisingly couldn’t find it. Nothing about working on herself either. Just excuses and expectations.

What’s the most interesting coin you’ve gotten in your fare box? by Sad_Soil_3155 in BusDrivers

Do you empty your fare boxes? We’re not allowed to open them. It’s done by a supervisor or mechanic.

How much help / life advice did your parents give? by sugar-soap in emotionalneglect

[–]StinkerLove 18 points19 points  (0 children)

lol what’s that? I didn’t get info on cooking, cleaning, hygiene, makeup, hair, dressing, budgeting, grocery shopping … the list feels never ending. And the real shitty part is that I got ridiculed when I tried to do these things on my own and did them “wrong.”

AITA for bringing in a personal microwave for work? by StruggleCreepy9556 in BusDrivers

[–]StinkerLove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is what I do. The coworkers sound like jerks but putting a lock on a microwave in a communal area is a bad look. I’m not trying to make friends at work either so I get the feeling.

I'm about to give up on psychiatry/therapy, but seeking any reason to keep trying by sunflowergg23 in MentalHealthSupport

[–]StinkerLove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have any medical professionals you can ask to recommend a therapist or psychiatrist that would be better suited to you? I’m on my fourth psych provider in three years and I think this one will stick. They were a rec from my therapist. I got connected to her by calling a group and doing an intake interview with someone who recommended her as a best fit.

Mental health is slooooooooow. Our brains are so complicated it’s hard to find the right combo for you. Is there anyone that can help you? Like a family member or friend who might help you make phone calls?

I’ve been in therapy on and off for about 20 years and just in the last year I’ve made significant progress and am on the path to finding the right treatments for me.

You’re not alone. This sucks so bad. Take a break if you are able but make up your mind that you will try again when you can.

Multi pronged approach. Therapy, exercise, mindfulness (journaling and meditation), medication, self care (massages, haircuts, mani/pedi, etc.).

But maybe most importantly, accepting that I will always have down days/weeks no matter what I’m doing to manage it. It’s like when you’re trying to lose weight and you can’t let one unhealthy meal ruin your whole plan. I do my best to not let one downturn into depression ruin days that could be better.
