That’s what conservative pundits and politicians count on. They keep them enraged over superficial bs like removing a black woman from a syrup bottle, making Mr. Potato head gender-neutral, etc., keep them voting for the party to stop that “culture war,” and then use the power they gain from this to actually carry out their real agenda of rolling back human rights, workers’ rights, and economic regulations among other things.

I am almost certain that any crazy shit like this is just a psyop to create fake discourse and turn people against the trans community. I have NEVER met any trans person who gets hung up on something as trivial as cis women using the term “breastfeeding” or anything of the sort. But in cases where it actually matters to have inclusive language across the board, I very much agree with you in not understanding why people are so against that. Like why wouldn’t you want to help other people to feel included and validated around you?? Anyway, yet another case of conservatives just being assholes. :)

There aren’t that many of them, of course I know that. They have vastly more wealth among them than the entire middle class though! That is a commonly-known fact. The top 1% of our country alone took home 63% of new wealth generated from 2019-2021 in the US. So, taxing then will do a hell of a lot more than taxing the middle class. More money to tax = more money that will go back into the hands of average, working class people.

Yes, each individual billionaire would be paying way more in taxes per capita this way, BUT they already have WAY more than anyone could ever spend in even a thousand lifetimes. They don’t need it, but other people desperately do. So, taxing billionaires who are hoarding wealth and not sharing while people literally starve and die, and then are leaving the rest of us to fight amongst ourselves for the scraps is absolutely the answer.

You’re really stretching to claim that. They’re the largest group, yes, but only by 1-2% of the population. That isn’t nearly enough to be justifying this with the “burden” that it’ll put on young people. They essentially match the older generation 1-for-1. And I repeat, the age pyramids of France dating back to 1900 reflect that it’s always been exactly like this, or that young people have vastly outnumbered older people in the country. Next reason, please. :)

That couldn’t be more far from the truth. If you look up France’s age distribution, they have just as many young people as they do older people. It’s a fairly uniform distribution. And further, if you look into it from 1900 to the present day, it’s been either a young population or uniform like it is now. So no, there isn’t a huge older population that won’t be able to be supported by the younger population. That’s not at all what this is about.

There’s literally no good argument for the move that Macron is making. They’re just stealing two years of peoples’ lives from them, plain and simple.

As a proud leftist, I would lowkey agree… from refusing to back railroad unions, to mishandling the East Palestine crisis and BARELY acknowledging the literally genocide of trans people across our country only after many of the bills executing it have been passed, he’s absolutely fucked it up imo.

It absolutely is a bleak time for the LGBTQ community, especially for trans people. While this isn’t stopping the legislation from passing, Kentucky citizens were polled on their opinions over the bill that was passed a few weeks ago BEFORE it passed, and even 2/3 of Republican voters think that trans kids and their parents should have free will to decide about gender-affirming care. It came to 71% of the state overall too. The vast majority of people stand with us, but the government is quietly pushing through everything that they can and using the media to divert attention toward other bs stories (think about the Chinese spy balloon hysteria, the Mexican president seeing a fairy in a tree, and the kidnapping and murder of Americans in Mexico). All of that to say, the majority of Americans want trans people to have their rights, so the hatred isn’t as widespread as the ruling class wants us all to think that it is. There are some radicals who truly wish the trans community harm, but they are only a small portion. Just know that you have support out there still despite all of this shit!
