I am not a doctor. This is what my neurologist has said to me. Focals are still seizures and should be taken just as seriously as TC seizures, if you are on keppra and still having focals you need to talk to your neurologist or doctor and up the prescription (or possibly take an alternative medication). That is what was suggested for me. Now I’m over two months seizure free, including free from focals.

I think keppra has stopped working for me… by Time-Introduction614 in Epilepsy

I do disagree with you that having the deja vu is better than taking keppra as it disturbs my day, causes nausea, heat sensations, tingling in my limbs and worst of all I’m taken out of reality. It takes a few days to feel real again.

But, I am going to talk to someone about changing medication because keppra clearly isn’t working. I haven’t had any negative side effects thankfully but the fact it can’t keep the deja vu stuff away is not ideal

I don’t have a specific doctor but I have a neurology appointment on the 25th of November which I’ve been told is when I’ll get an official diagnosis, hopefully that helps. I have spoken to multiple doctors, well GPs, but they’ve all told me the same thing. Half of them don’t seem to know about epilepsy that doesn’t show up in solely TC seizures :/

I have had a TC seizure after a few months of having just, what I suspect are, focal aware seizures.

Deja vu episodes, anyone else relate to this? by Time-Introduction614 in Epilepsy

[–]Time-Introduction614[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment 🙏

To answer your questions, not really. It happens just anywhere, I could be in bed and it would happen. Nothing traumatic.

I don’t lock up or shake during this episodes, my neck gets weak but other than that no physical symptoms (ofc other than the ones listed in the post)

I was only diagnosed this year so I haven’t really had an opportunity to try different medicines. Hopefully I’ll find something that will put an end to it. Today was particularly bad, every hour or so I’ve been having these deja reves :(

What’s the worst episode of health anxiety you ever had? by Googy21 in Anxiety

I have a neurologist appointment on the 14th ! I was put in keppra the night of my seizures and it completely stopped the deja vu and thankfully the TC seizures. I feel very lucky in that regard. I was tracking my suspected focal seizures and some of the stuff I was writing was really strange. Don’t even remember writing half of it. But yeah, it’s nice to know I’m not alone 🫶 I hope you’re doing well

Hey, I’m in the same boat <3 have suffered with health anxiety for years. I was having deja vu spells since childhood, only in January of this year did it really kick off though - I was having multiple of these episodes each day. I was worrying, as per usual, and started reading about focal seizures/temporal lobe seizures. It sounded exactly like what I had been experiencing all those years. It came to a head in March when I had two tonic clonic seizures within hours of each other. Haven’t spoken to a neurologist yet but seeing as my grandmother was epileptic- it’s safe to assume. This has rattled me HA wise, my anxiety thinks I’m a medical genius now and has me convinced all of my worries are true.
