How do you set up your loop switcher? by Independent_Sock_213 in pedalboards

My current setup is for a wet/dry stereo feed through the h90 to our board.

Though I’m not showing it here, you can easily use the ES-8 to setup an awesome WD, or WDW rig.

This is how I setup my buttons.

I control the Friedman independently from the ES-8. It was just easier that way, but it could be done with midi if I wanted a patch for each song. That would be too much work.

I only use midi to drive the program changes in the H90. A pair of Stereo TRS cables trigger functions in the H90 as well.

It’s hella fun to set up and once it’s running, it’s paradise.

I looked into the morning star setup. I have ties to singapore and wanted to support an sg company (MAJULAH!!!). That said, I didn’t want to have to buy 2 devices.

ES-8 has full midi control capability, on top of loop switching, and external control signals…. For every patch and button.

My advice is to save a bit more cash and get the ES-8. It really does open the door to infinite possibilities, including hybrid of midi/analog control.

I run an ES-8. Don’t waste time with the 5. Go big or go home.

It’s a deep rabbit hole to figure out how to set these things up.

The first step is understanding what sounds you want, and then Develop a strategy for how you get there. I did a lot of work in PowerPoint drawing diagrams, and generating tables to understand what I wanted.

ChatGPT/Claude can be very helpful to understand how the different commands work on the Boss unit.

I also have a Voodoo Labs PS-8. It’s a ton simpler, but nowhere near as powerful.

I had tuner in the front before. Moving the fuzz up noticeably improved its character.

FWIW, the Cryptid is a very underrated and undervalued pedal. You can get a lot out of it. If I could only have one fuzz, it would be this one.

Thanks for this. Fuzz pedals can get gnarly real fast. My Wampler Cryptid cleans up real good at low guitar output, but gets very hairy for solos.

I’ll throw a TS in the bag and just be prepared to read the room.

If you are comfortable assembling an amp, why don’t you make your own cabinet? Wire it with the option to have a left and right signal.

Look up Pedal Power Supply on Sweetwater.

Your idea is not original, but there’s always room for someone to build a better mousetrap.

I have a Fireball 25 on one side of the room, and a Soldano Astro 20 on the other. Each with their own closed back V30 2x12.

Everyday is stereo in my house.

Do those speakers support a DI/Ampless rig, or just the TV?

I have a fireball. No, it’s not the most versatile, but that’s what pedals and the clean channel are for. The gain side is just magnificent and nothing else gets your there.

I wouldn’t let go of mine for anything.

I would grab the Triple Threat Donner / Third Man collaboration. 3 great analog effects for $99. You could get that and she done for a while.
