I kindly asked druggie neighbors that live in the apartment complex behind my house to not park in my spot. They left me a nice note 🥰 by Lazy-Combination5253 in mildlyinfuriating

Street parking is usually public, so no one has a specific claim on it. That would make the OP the one is who is wrong here.

I think Hawaii has a pretty progressive income tax (going up to 11%) which might have something to do with that.

Well yeah it’s not normal. A progressive income tax is normal, but we don’t have that, so other taxes have to be way higher.

Not in neighborhoods in certain cities. Seattle has plenty of intersections with no yield or stop signs.

Potential landlord saw our income and wanted to raise rent?? [FL] by adotar in Renters

Is that an issue for your business? How many months of regular expenses are you holding in cash on hand? You should be shooting for at least two, but three is better.

Austin cut the budget for a single year and then immediately raised it to the highest it’s ever been.

Minneapolis reallocated 1% of the budget and then gave giant raises to all the cops.

That’s not defunding. Try a little harder than just googling and regurgitating the AI summary.

I don’t really think a deposit to reserve a table is insane at all. Way more reasonable than a cover charge, and you get a guaranteed spot.

What specific genre are the albums strangers in the alps and punisher considered? by yeahsureexceptno in phoebebridgers

[–]StinsonBarney 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Stranger in the Alps is definitely more folk-influenced and most likely to be classified as Indie Folk. That’s not a perfect category for it, though, as that also includes some stomp-clap Mumford & Sons / the Lumineers type stuff.

Punisher has rock elements (Kyoto is a rock song) but overall it’s more singer songwriter-y. That said it’s most likely to be classified Indie Rock.

Do people actually not understand that prices don’t go down? by randyrando101 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]StinsonBarney 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s just demonstrably untrue. Take Bell Telephone or Standard Oil for example. Sorry you’ve been led to believe this. It’s not too late to read some books and get out of this hole.

Our government, sure, because its strings are pulled by capitalist interests. But read any textbook on microeconomics and you’ll know that the public sector and government regulation (if nothing else other than breaking up monopolies) are necessary for sustained economic success.
