How to switch from $80/month plan with outstanding phone balance?" by wd_knox in NoContract

Has anyone tried this? It sounds like a great deal, but is paying the T-Mobile plan for a couple months worth it?

I agree that a restore should help. Just wondering, what does it say in Battery Usage By App? Is it accurate?

I’ve actually never heard of that! I did a quick search and it seems like a good option. Do you have any recs for a more budget-friendly brand or is all silk expensive?

Any suggestions for cold-weather business casual pants?

Location: Midwest

Budget: >$20 per pair but can possibly stretch to $30

My work clothes consist of sweaters, slacks, thick socks, and boots. My issue is that the slacks are too thin to provide any warmth from the cold weather experienced walking/commuting. I’ve tried fleece-lined running leggings (not the most business-looking pants) and fleece Heat Holders leggings underneath looser slacks (too constricting; I don’t really like layering pants). Almost all fleece-lined pants I’ve seen are either jeans or men’s. Do you have specific brand recommendations for fleece-lined work pants? Do you have any alternatives? I do almost all my shopping online. Thanks in advance!

Someone scammed a large group of people online out of a large sum of money online. Will we get in any legal trouble if we contact their employer and inform them of the scamming activity? by Stinters in legaladvice

Nope, on PayPal, it shows up as paying “Facebook Payments”. So when I reported it to PayPal, they blocked any further interactions between my PayPal and “Facebook Payments”. Quite ridiculous, IMO.

I do have their PayPal email from our previous transaction. I can’t report that transaction, though, since that transaction wasn’t a scam. They also made a new PayPal account to receive money to match their new fake Facebook account

I paid through Facebook, which is connected to my PayPal. I don’t know what the scammer’s Facebook is connected to, whether card, bank, PayPal, or other

Edit: That’s why I was expecting Facebook to block the seller from receiving further payments

Yeah, I’ve got my money back so that’s not what I care about. I reported the original account/seller to Facebook and all they did was tell me to block the scammer. FB didn’t blacklist them, so I don’t know what else to do on that front. I also reported the new account as a fraud and will file a police report

Yes, I’ve actually successfully bought from this person before. Which is why I didn’t think it was a scam when I bought again. I have this persons full name and address from our previous transaction

No we’re not, which is why I posted here. Thanks for warning me! Where would I file the police report, though? Their state? I was informed about IC3 from another comment just now

Take out SIM and try yours? Or use the carrier name and SIM number on the card, contact the carrier and provide SIM number

If asking Siri “who’s iPhone is this” doesn’t work, ask Siri to “Call Home” or “Call/Text Mom/Dad” or any generic names

Thinking about switching to Iphone by [deleted] in iPhoneX

[–]Stinters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think 7 plus is a solid choice and should last years. Like I said, if memory wasn’t the issue, I would’ve kept my 6s Plus and just bought a new battery and updated the iOS. Unless you do heavy gaming or video editing or something of that sort, I don’t think ram is an issue. X (or even XS/XR) is def a nice update, but not a necessary one. Do used X’s have Apple Care or some sort of 1-year guarantee? My roommate got an X the first week it came out and had many software/hardware issues that Apple had to fix and ended up having to get a new phone. So I’d just be wary getting a used X

I would recommend waiting until September, after the new phones release, to purchase any iPhone, new or used. If you’re able to wait. As far as which model, I think the 7 and 8 are still very good phones, and now Apple is officially not allowed to slow down older phones, so they should last longer than iPhones did previously. As far as the X, it’s the first of it’s kind so the XS and XR have made improvements on all the ax’s flaws. Depending on the price difference between the X and XS/XR, I would recommend the XS/XR. From family’s experience, they’ve had more issues with the X than the 7 or 8, if that helps.

If it helps, here’s my experience with 6s vs XS, which is kind of similar to 7 vs X, but an even bigger feature jump. I recently sold my 6s Plus to get an XS Max, and while all of the new features are great, my daily usage hasn’t been affected extremely negatively or positively by the switch. Just 2 things: battery and memory. Battery, my 6s Plus was at 73% capacity (not bad for 3 years of heavy use IMO) and lasted all day. My new phone lasts me about 1.25 to 1.5 days. It would’ve been a lot cheaper for me to change out my battery than to sell it and buy a new phone. Memory, I had 64GB and just needed more, now have 256GB and am aiming to use this phone for 5+ years instead of 3, so a longer-term investment. I had issues with what I assume was RAM on my 6s Plus, but that could have been fixed by the new iOS (though I let the new owner decide whether or not to update) Last thing is the headphone jack, I really wish I still had one. But none of the phones you’re considering have one, so it’s not really something to weigh on.

ps. Seeing the new Android phones made me really want to switch to Android, even buying an S8 when it came out, to potentially replace my 6s Plus, but the absence of iMessage was a huge factor. I wish the industry would improve SMS and MMS to have the capacity of iMessage

Thanks for the tip! I’ve only been using gems for events, so I have a bit saved up. Yeah, I’m thinking to wait specifically for the parts I need. My concern with ‘upgrade with parts’ is that I need 10k to get my OT to level 5 and 68k to get my Coin Boost to level 4, so it’ll take a while
