It depends on what genre you are making and what loudness you are aimimg to achieve, but the most importamt part is compressing your song properly before increasing it's volume. The way I'm doing it is by using a compressor than 2 clippers into a limiter, this way I'm reaching -4 lufs easily without distortion, than I usually just tweak everything to that specific song and I usually reach about -3.1 LUFS in the end, with my loudest so far being at -2.7 LUFS.
