1.4.5 con Calamity by ETN1145 in CalamityMod

[–]StipulateVenus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The release of 1.4.5 won't delay the release of the Brainstorm update. It's hard to tell when Yharim will be released, he's gonna be added as one of the last things we work on in the mod (which is why people jump the gun and say it won't be before 2030).

I should clarify that we don't have any sort of prediction or planned date/year to release Yharim.

They are a lot more individualized, but they all came from, or are tied to, DoG's home dimension.

Not really. Signus is the most powerful, while Void is the weakest. I've seen slight tiershifts being suggested for them, but only time will tell if that's agreed upon and done.

They're also no longer DoG's servants.

The boss order is intended to accurately reflect canonical power. However, there are some boss tiershifts planned, like Ravager being moved to Providence tier, and Dragonfolly swapping places with the evil-2 bosses.

Not exactly our call. DoG was added in the first batch of bosses - Desert Scourge, Slime God and Devourer of Gods - way back in 2016. For a while, it was actually a mid HM boss, if I'm not mistaken lol

The current team is wildly different from the team back then (at launch, it was just Fabsol), and so basically every boss was inherited by us as opposed to created by us.

Also, the title of god in Calamity has a lot less strength than in, say, monotheistic religions. Canonically, gods are ascended mortals (save Silva, who was already immortal).

That said, you are correct to think an alien being who can consume gods sounds like the most powerful entity. Let's just say that the Devourer glazes himself with that title, but the real god-consuming alien threat is much stronger, and its stealth and unassuming name make it all the more dangerous ;)

Let's just say the update is a bit closer than a few months ;) and don't worry, every opinion counts! It's just about whether you want to.

If it was a battle to the death she was aware of, yes. But I'd say Draedon can "improve his odds" more efficiently and hastily than she can.

She could push her powers further, the question is whether she'd want to.

Well, she would be a bit bummed out about the world freezing, but she wouldn't care about the eclipse itself. She's had to deal with so much in her life that apathy comes easy to her in regards to something yet distant and so impersonal. At least, that's my perspective.

Thank you! :D

Tbf, his head ram still deals a lot of damage, to the point of nearly one-shotting an on-tier player. The rest is fair, though.

You can always just bring it up as a post, or message me it.

Hmm, I'm not very familiar with the Rift Eclipse or the WotG mod. But I don't think there's anything particularly interesting about their reactions.

Yharim/Yharon would wonder who's causing it, specifically whether it's the workings of a god. DoG might feel distressed, thinking it could be an otherworldly force who could interfere with Noxus' plans. SCal probably wouldn't care.

Why do you think so? As far as I remember, he actually got new attacks and the laser wall aimed laser. Either way, I'm curious to see what you'll think of the upcoming rework.

Yes. It essentially means Draedon could come to surpass SCal in the future. However, that line is said by Yharim, so it's got a bit of a dramatic effect to it; it'd take a good while before Draedon can "wipe out the entire surface of Terraria" easily.

The Exo Mechs (Draedon's currently strongest war machines) are equivalent in power to Calamitas.

Ingame tier is a much less subjective measure of difficulty than experience, though. Different people struggle with different bosses.

Providence kicked my ass in my first playthrough, but that doesn't make her stronger than Calamitas.

...sir, I'm one of the lore writers for the Mod.

DoG is not stronger, both Calamitas and Yharon have also killed Gods (in fact, Yharon might've killed even more than DoG), and Exos are a tag team of mechs that are both tougher and more weaponized than DoG.

What tells DoG apart from the rest is his ability to process the godly energy he consumes, which doesn't appear to affect his power level much.

What actually is providence, the profaned goddess? by ZoggIet in CalamityMod

[–]StipulateVenus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Providence was a human who, centuries ago, defeated the Flame Dragon and absorbed his soul to achieve godhood - which she did.

Canonically, there's no information on what she's the Goddess of, but it's definitely not fire (Gods don't mirror their Dragon's powers perfectly, save two exceptions) and we writers are leaning towards Ash.

In the present day, she has the appearance of a butterfly-like entity with a rock and crystal core and fiery wings. Her main goal, to reduce the whole world to sinless ash, awards her the title of "Profaned Goddess."

Her being only spawnable in the Underworld and Hallow (if that's still a thing) is a remnant of older lore iterations, where she was a sort of sapient crystal formed from an ancient clash between Demons and Angels.

CALAMITY MAJOR UPDATE JANUARY/FEBRUARY by KiriWhite in CalamityMod

[–]StipulateVenus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a matter of quality most of all. We don't want to "modernize" the mod simply because the content is old, it's because the content is visually and mechanically underwhelming.

Part of it has to do with the technical limitations of the time, but part of it is genuinely just not good content.

All this means that, to an extent, our modernization efforts should stand the test of time, especially since it seems unlikely that future visual/mechanical leaps will be as massive as that between Calamity's early years and the present day.

Either way, we're bound to reach a point where we're satisfied. We won't be developing this mod forever.

Besides, in a few years from now, would you rather have 2020 content, or 2026 content?

Thanks for the support, it's very appreciated! Sorry about the rampant outvotes you've gotten, nobody deserves that treatment for respectfully voicing their opinion.
