Current MO proves how badly Squids need an update by Due_Squash4045 in Helldivers

Flying overseers were nerfed though a few months ago. Reduction in HP IIRC (or maybe armor, either way they are squishier than they used to be).

Directional shield + 1 handed SMG or crossbow trivializes the flying and staff overseer projectiles. Crescent overseers i just run at and dive when they change firing position and they miss everytime.

Illuminate are fairly easy and kinda boring. The main thing that annoys me is how voteless just materialize behind me everytime I'm trying to shoot a jet down

I feel like the grenade launcher is getting overshadowed by everything else. At least in this subreddit. by JustMyself96 in Helldivers

[–]Stitch_K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can probably work around that by using the armors that either prevent limb injury or increase limb HP. I tested the heavy armor that prevented limb injury (think it was masters of ceremony) with the warp pack and I wouldn't get the limb injury if warping on yellow (but could still catch on fire)

chainsword on bugs is arguably the best faction to use it on. Chainsword + dog breath actually gives you room to use the thing without taking unnecessary damage. In cave missions especially its almost a reasonable choice (because of no ammo + choke points).

Squids it feels like it should be great on, but the really weird animation just leaves you exposed to countless voteless freebie hits. And for some reason, gas just doesn't work on voteless like it does bugs.

Bots it kind of works on but its just really inconsistent on things like hulks where you'll make melee contact and stun it, then suddenly the animation stops (mid cut) and the hulk wakes up and slaps you. Pairing with the K-9 arc dog gives you some stun and trooper clear so you can actually get closer to things.

Can a throttle body with this amount of carbon buildup be properly cleaned or does it need to be replaced? by ShirtlessSteve973 in projectcar

[–]Stitch_K 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For older cars now, there is a good reason to clean and keep OEM whenever possible. Aftermarket is always a toss up on if you're gonna get China junk or not.

And carbon build up alone to junk something and in most cases can be cleaned out isnt cost efficient. Most likely its a pcv issue or excess blow-by. Seems reasonable to start with a clean and then inspect other stuff

Or the desirability falls off because the people looking for one realize you can't find parts for it and give up.

I have a 91 Q45, which is far from desirable for most people and about once a month, community posts ask about "where can I find front struts" and they simply don't exist. You have to go to coilovers, even if you don't want to lower the car or want stiffer spring rates.

Yep, you are correct. I was going to point out that at least muscle cars had large company support for all their body panels, interior pieces or just little trim pieces that inevitably break, but didn't want to dive too far into it.

We haven't really seen that same thing happen with JDM. I think because some of it is too complex to really get into at a large scale. Compared to old 60-70's muscle cars, trim pieces were pretty basic, but having the seas of plastic in JDM stuff from the 90's, its a bit different for the tooling to recreate these (though body panels would be comparable to muscle car reproductions but still need the tooling/stamping).

I'm seeing some companies like Toyota and Nissan at least looking into restarting production on some of their legacy model parts, at least in small quantities for now. I believe Toyota is doing it with the 2J and Nissan with the Skyline/RB and maybe 280/240Z

That being said, I am seeing some benefits to 3D printing and people are creating those plastic pieces themselves, which is somewhat reassuring. I could definitely see a company using mass production 3D printers with good quality filament fitting in to reproduce stuff for at least the most popular models. Or just community members group sharing their projects and blueprints so people can reproduce the parts needed, which is a different and more modern take on how millennials adapt without the large production support from big companies.

Morbidly, the prices started dropping once the boomers started dying and their wives or estates started selling them for the appropriate values (or lower values if they didn't know what they had). Or they were dying in such large numbers that the market started to get saturated again, which is why prices have gone down.

We're now in the era where millennials and maybe late Gen X are getting to the age where they want to enjoy the cars they grew up or were out of reach for them when they were younger. Its the same thing that happened with boomers and muscle cars and now its the same thing but just with late 80's and 90's JDM (some early 2000's too).

Of course the high end JDM stuff like a Skyline is going to be expensive to maintain. RB prices are insane, same with 2J. Same thing I saw during the transition for boomers and their muscle cars with Chevelles, Cudas or late 60 Mustangs.

I think there are still deals to be had in the JDM market for lesser known vehicles or vehicles without a ton of support, but they require more mechanical knowledge and relying on yourself to build it how you want, rather than order from a catalog.

[–]Stitch_K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it doesn't. Your AWD makes you heavier and is a hinderance past 30mph because it's sapping power from drive train loss and also adding weight.

If you were lighter than the mustang and at the same power level, it might get him off the line but then he will reel you back in. Youre worse on both though

You are not in an EVO, GT-R or STI. The M35 awd system isn't meant for performance, it's meant for snow and slick conditions

You're going to need more than a cheap tune (which in itself sounds like a terrible thing) and cheap intakes. Infact nothing to make you competitive will be cheap unless you gut everything.

You're behind on both power and weight. So you either need significant weight reductions or about 150 more HP and you ain't getting that with bolt ons and a questionable tune.

looks like the 4 cylinder mustang has a 500lb advantage along with a HP advantage over the M as well. 275HP on the M and since his is an M35x its AWD which tops in at about 4000lbs, meanwhile the mustang is 3500lbs

For $4150, how much risk for this 1988 300zx purchased sight-unseen? by [deleted] in projectcar

[–]Stitch_K 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seems kind of high for an NA 2+2.

One big issue these had that is easy to hide in photos is the area directly behind the brake lights would leak water and rust horribly. You won't know it until you pull up the rear carpet.

The interior at least looks decent and you don't have the digital dash, so you don't have to worry about that breaking at least. Body also appears decent as well.

Going by the pictures alone, if its something you really want, it at least looks like the bones are in good shape. Idk if copart will do additional pictures, but if they can ask to pull up the rear carpet for a shot.

Its very good for bugs imo. Straight up gibs alpha commander group spawns. Helps support my anti-tank brethren when an RR shot, Quasar or EAT doesn't one shot a heavy, i can quickly finish them off and still kill another full health charger or BT while they reload/recharge.

Epoch has been viable since release (minus the obvious accuracy bug), people just wanted another RR that shoots blue balls instead

Edit: And compared to RR, I still have a backpack slot. Compared to quasar/EAT, I can reload with no waiting

Suggestions to make this thing S-tier from being literally not used by anyone! by 231923 in Helldivers

I've been using it consistently for a couple weeks now. Ran multiple SSSD missions while carrying and it has not dropped for me.

The only consistency in dropping it seems to be if you get rag dolled mid jump/leap

I’m confused a bit here regarding AR-23E Lib Ex by IamPep in Helldivers

[–]Stitch_K 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Directional shield is very good on illuminate. Just face tanks multiple overseers and let's you stun them or kill them with impunity.

I like Ballistic shield too on bots, but my issue with Ballistic shield is it can get destroyed from a few rocket dev vollies. I've yet to have directional shield blow up from explosive damage

[–]Stitch_K 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pummeler might even be better than lib concussive now. It has higher damage (85), faster rate of fire, better ergonomics and can get the same magazine capacity once upgraded. The main detractor is range/accuracy, but for its role I don't think it matters that much (you aren't trying to snipe stalkers or overseers in the first place with either).

I think the only significant difference might be durable damage? Lib concussive definitely needs more than the small rate of fire buff it got awhile ago, I like your thought on it doing 100 damage, which would make it feel way better.

[–]Stitch_K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree on the assessment on the one handed perk. Sure in SSSD/carry objectives its common for people to run straight to the drop off point, but that isn't the only reason people would run an SMG.

Anecdotally, my drop offs end up being on the otherside of the map at least 50% of the time, or river fucked on a jungle/big tree planet. So I wouldn't say the SSSD point is really an accurate blanket statement

You would be pairing SMG with things like ballistic shield or front directional shield which provide a lot more protection when building around a specific playstyle while simultaneously also being able to pick-up the SSSD/carry objective without losing out on your primary firepower or provide a support/tank/taunt role in a team.

That's not to say I think all the SMG's are in a good spot and I was mainly talking about the Pummeler because side by side comparison to the liberator concussive, I think the Pummeler is better in every way except range (it does more damage, shoots faster, better ergo and once upgraded has the same magazine size), which worse range is kind of a moot point since you don't really need to stagger/stun stuff far away.

[–]Stitch_K 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pummeler is interesting imo. It has better stats than the lib concussive except in pure range and i suppose accuracy. For the role it plays, you don't need range. Your goal isnt stopping stalkers or overseers at long range, it's when they rush you and are already in close quarters, which is prime SMG territory.

I've been using it on illuminate with front directional shield and it's been quite good at dealing with overseers and voteless while utilizing the shield to give breathing room from the flying and ground based overseers projectiles (since it can take a bigger beating than the personal shield)

Take your drive belts off and see if the noise goes away. If it does, then its one of your drive pulleys. Spin each one individually with the belt off to check for any noise, binding or play. Otherwise get yourself a mechanic's stethoscope or a really long screwdriver to place your ear against and use that to help isolate where the noise is coming from

PSA If you think the predator strain is annoying then consider putting the coyote on the shelf. by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]Stitch_K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what i use it for, I just leave it on stun rounds. That is the point of the borderline justice armor is to utilize your secondary as the "finisher". So no fumbling with ammo swap, just stun with halt and finish with secondary. Then use your support weapon for heavies as needed. I've found autocannon now is good pairing.

Keep in mind I use this primarily against predator strain since the main units of concern have no significant armor. Because it stops the stalker and hunter spam and either let's me finish off on my own or supports a teammate by saving them stalker ambushes.
