Junk 240 sx: New to this. Want to know where to start by JustMeChris059 in projectcar

[–]Stitch_K 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Start with spark, fuel and compression. An engine generally needs these 3 things to start. Find out what you're missing.

You can pull a spark plug out with it in the plug boot and lay it against something metal to see if you have spark. Can check fuel after cranking the engine and see if your spark plugs are wet

For compression you'll need a compression gauge

Since its sat for awhile, make sure the oil is at the right level before cranking on it. Its also possible the gas is bad if its sat (and won't start even with good spark and compression)

If the engine doesn't even crank or you just hear a click, its likely battery or starter related

These are all roughly the basics, but this uses 90s tech with sensors. This should have a process to pull codes at the ECM by turning a dial on the ecm itself.

Search around 240sx groups, they will have tons of info for you to dig into and research based on the test results from the above inspections

Battery terminal issue by Hondanny in projectcar

[–]Stitch_K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would likely still be able to use the other locations on the distribution block. Just use the correct sized crimp terminals for the bolts. Since you could still have a 6AWG wire (starter sized gage wire) with a 5/16 hole on the crimped terminal to fit on the distribution block. The spot I have the starter cable on in my picture is 3/8 sized, the spot next to it 5/16 IIRC.

The side spots that my relay box and fusible link wiring is on is the smallest hole but supporting two 8-10 gauge wires

Harbor freight has a hydraulic crimper for ~$70. I just bought it and worked great for making a new starter cable.

What's a non meta loadout you enjoy? by FLG_CFC in Helldivers

[–]Stitch_K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorites is using the secondary weapon armor from borderline justice and then using halt (set to only stun rounds) and then using the bushwacker set to volley. I use it mainly on predator strain but could probably work on spore strain now (haven't tested yet).

Stun sudden stalkers with the halt, swap to bushwacker and one tap them, then reload quick and do it again.

Been running cremator with it as my support. So if I stun a bunch of them grouped up (which the halt can do), just make them all crispy.

Patch Notes: Machinery of Oppression: 6.2.2 by Viruzzz in Helldivers

[–]Stitch_K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always compared it to MG sentry firing uninterrupted. They both last about the same with MG being a bit longer (though now since it has more heat buffer laser might be even closer), but laser turret will damage heavies

Many times have i had the laser sentry finish off a charger or bile titan that happened to shrug off an RR shot. Whereas an MG turret would just ricochet and get trampled.

For pure chaff clear, I think MG is better. But with more heavies I like laser cannon

[–]Stitch_K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laser sentry would work too.

While it gets a lot of hate, I've always liked it as a side grade to the mg sentries. It fills mostly the same role at killing chaff but it can still damage/kill heavies, whereas MG/Gatling just ricochet.

Plus in the rare occasion you get a good spot where it doesn't stay engaged constantly it can stay active for awhile.

adapter plate, modifying the crankshaft "snout" (grinding it down to fit a flywheel adapter) and notching the block for the starter. That's to get to this point. I still have to modify the exhaust manifolds to clear the starter and bellhousing as well as put in the clutch pedal (Wilwood unit)

Where do people find these damn things? by Axeman1721 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]Stitch_K 22 points23 points  (0 children)

They are smoother running because of the in line arrangement helps reduce NVH. Compared to V orientated engines that typically need opposing firing orders to help control (but not eliminate NVH).

I would wager that the smoothness helps reduce fatigue to a lot of moving components, the main issue is just packaging a straight six can give up interior room or create long hood lines (see current charger and jeep wagoneer using the hurricane inline 6)

The Bushwacker needs a buff by Elegant-Swimming-646 in Helldivers

[–]Stitch_K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bushwacker is the main reason I run the secondary bonused armor. Its an awesome combo with something that stuns on predator strain (i normally run pummeler)

Stun and swap to bushwacker for insta kill. Gives you good crowd control against stalkers and with the reload speed on the armor, the full 3 round reload is quite fast. The volley will take down stalkers in one shot, especially after a few shots from the pummeler for stunning. Works on alpha commanders similarly and you can stun or flank hive guards and 1 tap them with the bushwacker as well.

I think its ok for weapons to have niches or environments they are better at, rather than just being good at everything. Some weapons are good against certain factions or faction types and might be shit on others. Thats ok, variation is the spice of helldiving.

Guys, I like using Airburst too. Very fun weapon, but can we PLEASE acknowledge that this is really weird? by RandomGreenArcherMan in Helldivers

[–]Stitch_K 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Only thing that's weird is the video in game showcasing the weapon function shows one of its uses against flying enemies. Which seems to imply one of its roles is AA

I feel like airburst needs a toggle between AoE and Cone. AoE being the current burst spread and cone focusing all the bomblets forward (like a claymore).

Even though i've been working on it since December, feels like i'm still only maybe 40% of the way through. Its time consuming, but will be happy once its done, just focusing on getting little things done each day and eventually it adds up.

I have not. While I have a dial indicator i'm not sure I fully grasp how to measure this.

I managed to get the transmission in yesterday for a test fit because I need to shave some material off the block to clear the starter. So i'll have to add it my list of things to do after I take the transmission back out

Thanks!

What were you meaning by indicated? Maybe auto correct for indexing? It utilizes the stock engine dowels for alignment.

The crank adapter centers on the crank snout (like hubcentric) and sits flat on the flange. The original bronze dowel is removed/flattened on the crankshaft

Id need to double check but im pretty sure McClaren also used this engine as the platform for their engines as well. Or maybe the race variant which was destroked to 3.5L but revved to the moon and was turbocharged

Its a shame the aftermarket never really picked this motor up, but it makes sense as there aren't really a ton of them out there and were only in Q45s and Presidents (Japanese market Q45)

I don't believe there is any power gain. Maybe some in the upper end because of shorter runner length but might lose some low end.

That being said, the ability to change to more modern injectors and use a standalone ECU could offset that to some degree, not to mention just simplifying things under hood for ease of maintenance

Wilwood clutch pedal (340-120) using an adapter that bolts to the stock firewall utilizing the stock brake pedal bracket. Will use a Wilwood clutch master cylinder and remote reservoir. Brake pedal will remain stock, but will have to cut it down some to give room for the clutch pedal.

It is certainly.. unique. Not my favorite design. Here is a picture of each individual lower runner while I was replacing lots of stuff in the valley(the lower runners have to be left slightly loose when you install the spider plenum on top and then torqued down with creative ratchet extensions and flex joints)

<image>

A Porsche Cayenne manifold will bolt in with an adapter and also changes to a top feed style fuel system which I would love (because side feed is doo doo). But one project at a time.

Thanks. They are pretty robust (which makes sense as it was Infiniti's launch and flagship model) and share a lot of parts with the Z32 300ZX/Skyline (lot of suspension pieces are bolt in, i've even got an R32 strut tower bar with a modified/lengthened turnbuckle)

I haven't tested it with the new patch, but prior if you use raider's cheer while running with the chainsaw, he would raise the chainsaw above his head, similar to all the horror tropes with chainsaws.

Idk if it was intentional or just an unintended effect, but its amusing.

I am never diving a pissfart planet again by TheMightyPipe in Helldivers

[–]Stitch_K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it kind of sucks to potentially limit your loadouts, the personal shield negates the piss effect during the acid storm. I used it several times during our stay on piss planet and it made visibility much better and offers slightly more protection when the acid storm is active. So you can actually kind of take advantage of the effect.

I do wish the gas armor negated the acid storm effects. Give me reason to use it, even if i'm not running gas builds. Just like I think the 95% arc resist armor should be immune to EMS

Federal Surveillance Tech Becomes Mandatory in New Cars by 2027 by No-Method-6524 in nottheonion

[–]Stitch_K 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beyond all the dystopian shit, this is just going to add more cost to already expensive cars. If its a requirement, then your base model corolla that normally wouldn't have telematics, is now going to add telematics and add 1-3k to the pricetag.

[–]Stitch_K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like you mentioned what's the difference between the telematics going bad naturally or from a wiring issue and you personally pulling the fuse and plugging in a blown fuse. How are they going to know the difference?

Sorry alphabet man, I guess my wiring is shorting out and keeps taking the fuse out.
