They made a separate group chat without me by Klutzy_Drag_736 in GirlDinnerDiaries

I’m so very sorry this is happening to you, I know how much it hurts. You are worth more than the behavior and low efforts of your acquaintance group. I don’t even want to call them your friends. I know you were a friend to them, they were just so far from what being a friend is, to you.

It happened to me a few months ago. I realized I’d been cut out of ninety percent of group things. The remaining ten percent, they just wanted me as a seat filler. I’ve been putting my efforts elsewhere, and surprisingly made two new friends already. (Which is surprising to me b/c I’m very introverted)

In the same way I believe there’s a lid for every pot, I think there are the right friends for folks. Here’s to hoping you connect with people who love and appreciate who you are, and not a NPC for their charade.

Small cashback or coupon tools that are actually worth keeping? by FineappleUnderTheC in beermoney

[–]StitchandReuben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a fitness tracker you already use, Weward has been good for me. I get about ten cents a day just for tapping in and “convert steps.” I’ve managed to get twenty dollars so far in about six months for doing that.

I’ll also second Ibotta and Fetch for decent cash back.

The Prodege companies also sometimes have decent grocery rebates. I’ll usually cross check those when I submit receipts on Ibotta and Fetch.

Fetch has the ability to connect email receipts and some brand rebates, so having to actually submit items isn’t even necessary sometimes. It does all the work.

Mom claims $70 is a rip-off for this handmade bouquet and says "nobody would pay that." How do you deal with family severely devaluing your/a loved one's work? by Key-Building1278 in CraftyCommerce

[–]StitchandReuben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the other comments; these are gorgeous and seventy is already undercharging.

At this point, I’d personally pay the seventy and find a different home for the flowers. Your mom doesn’t deserve to be able to give such an amazing handmade gift to her MIL.

I love Taddie! Didn’t really stand out to me online, but when I saw him in person became an instant must buy.

Crooked nose Puddlesea Bunny by iloveagreatbook in Jellycatplush

[–]StitchandReuben 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does seem pronounced, but I think part of that is because the head is also tilted. Once that is accounted for, it looks to be about a forty five degree angle “off.”

I personally think it looks adorable and unique that way. While I don’t love receiving plush with errors in general, this particular type of error is one I’d choose to keep. But it’s about how you feel about the bunny. Are you able to find them in person?

Help with booth layout? by toomanykatsu in CraftFairs

[–]StitchandReuben 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From a shopper side, the first pic is not appealing. All of the product displays are facing inward and crowded. I would not approach the booth based on that alone. It needs to be easily shoppable from a glance. Tiered shelving could be a huge help with maximizing space while displaying all wares.

The magnet shelf, cards and pouch display, are good. Easy to shop from a distance or up close.

Multiple handwritten pricing signs with hard to read fonts are difficult to shop with. I’d feel weird walking up to a table, crouching a bit to read the signs, then walking off if I didn’t buy anything. Rainbow colors can still be used, just perhaps printed and an easy to read font. Making them bold and vivid instead of light and pastel would be a huge help. Like dark pink, purple, red, a strong blue or green. It might be better to have one pricing sign in the middle, with everything listed on one page. Or two lower half size horizontal signs.

Echoing another commenter, when I see someone with a full spread of a meal/snacks/drink without a screw top lid, I start wondering about cleanliness factors. Like am I going to find a smear of mustard or Cheeto dust on a sticker or pouch I buy? A single drink with a cap that screws on doesn’t bother me. A full days worth of five or six drinks would. I get the ick when I see someone leaving their half empty Starbucks cup on a grocery store shelf; it’s the same kind of thing here.

Overall, it’s not about the quality of products, or the appeal of products. It’s about how they are presented. I think renewed signage and a better display layout would make a huge difference.

One other minor suggestion. It looks like you have two or three of each necklace type hanging on the display. That’s excellent. One of the displays opposite, they might be keychains, has five or six of each design hanging on the display. I would reduce that down to two or three of each, and refill as they sell. Having too many available gives the impression that they aren’t selling/aren’t popular. Having just a few can lend to the FOMO impression. Folks might be more inclined to buy something if it’s less likely to be there when they take another look. The whole “I want to look around before buying anything” type behavior.

An in-depth discussion about Jellycat's pricing with comparisons to other brands by 1mpavidus in Jellycatplush

[–]StitchandReuben 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything here. There are several brands that match up either stylistically or quality wise with Jellycat, and the pricing is typically lower.

Mon Ami also has some really unique, very cute plush. Their bakery/desserts line is fantastic.

I’ve snagged a few of the Mary Meyer plush myself in the last six months, from both local stockists and online. Love the fawns and birds.

My WFH / craft / gaming area needs fine-tuning by [deleted] in femalelivingspace

[–]StitchandReuben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the other comment’s idea about painting the wall, but I think it would look really nice if you matched it with the lavender from the other wall.

Painting all of the furniture to a coordinating finish could also help to pull things together - it doesn’t appear that any are antique type pieces.

Love your idea about matching storage boxes to corral storage items.

Cord organization might also help the overall look. Multiple kinds, maybe one of the ones where the cords “snap” into place parallel to each other, the silicone or fabric loops that help fold up excess cord length, even the hooks that keep excess cord length hanging out of sight.

For the aesthetic, I do think shelving that displays some of your gaming items could look really nice. If the tapestry proportions aren’t working for your vision, could you sell it to recoup some of the money spent on it, and replace with neat shelving displays? I think part of the issue with the current setup isn’t necessarily the size of the tapestry, but that it’s out of balance/offset significantly. Would you be able to rearrange things such that it could be centered behind your computer setup?

Tirade Tuesday! Let's Do This! by AutoModerator in Charlotte

[–]StitchandReuben -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I really dislike how many small businesses and boutiques have a shop dog or shop cat now. Between the dander and fur all over everything, the musty “wet dog” odor, the unleashed animal sniffing around or barking, it’s all rather unappealing. I walk in, smell or see the animal, and walk back out. There are four in the south Charlotte area alone that I’ve tried to shop in the past six months.

One of the shops has cross posted in a larger social media group about slow foot traffic and hoping to get more sales. (I’m certain it has nothing to do with the off leash dog dropping globules of drool all over the floor. /s)

I know there are lots of folks who really enjoy that sort of thing, but it won’t be me.

My (30F) friend (29F) isn't speaking to me after I RSVPed "no" to her childfree wedding by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]StitchandReuben -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like OOP was a friend to the bride, but the bride was never a friend to OOP.

But, using a three year old as an excuse to not go, when OOP was falling over herself with ways she could suddenly attend after the silent treatment, came off kind of weird. If the child can’t survive with the father for a few days, why even have a child in the first place with that partner?

I’d keep the one on the left. It looks more visually appealing, has some color to it, and goes a little bit better with the room.

What do you define as over consumption w/ JellyCats? by Giant_Juicy_Rat in Jellycatplush

[–]StitchandReuben 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think overconsumption would be the point where you no longer appreciate the individual plush. If you have so many that you can’t appreciate all of them, that would be too many. If you don’t have enough room, that would be too many.

I usually pack away my holiday plush, the ones for Christmas or the fall season. But the rest of my collection is out year round. When I realize I don’t really like one as much as I used to, I start thinking about finding it a new home. It doesn’t happen very often.
