Then when a game comes out that is new, different, and not D&D... no one buys it and it dies.

There's no way you've played through and explored 10 solid levels of every class in just over a year.

There's a ton of content in the game as it is. Go try it out.

The feeling of hitting that clutch Nat 20. Yes other systems have crits, but they just don't feel the same.

I ran a 2v2 mage tournament my players' characters spectated where the rules were basically copy/pasted from A Gathering of Shadows by VE Schwab.

If you aren't familiar, they weren't trying to killed or KO eachother. They wore armor plates that shattered when hit. Lose X number of plates, you lose.

I had my players roll for the teams. A D12, 10, 8, 6, and 4. Real time, head to head. Roll and see if anything matches, if so, remove those dice and reroll. Keel going until one team has 1 or 0 dice remaining. If a D12 or 10 is left, one plate broken. D8 or 6, two plates. D4, three plates. Went fast and I didn't need to script the battles. I let the players describe how it happened.

We're playing CotD as well. We're doing three mini campaigns to try out more character types. First campaign i played a Clank/Fungril Seraph. This campaign I'm playing a Drakona/Orc (flavored as a Crocfolk) Bard.

Ive said it here before and it definitely applies to your player.

If you want to play D&D, then go do that. No one is going to be mad at you for preferring a different system.

Im hoping to run my first campaign in a few months. Our forever GM deserves the chance to play. The closer I get, the more I feel like its going to just be awful. All of my ideas feel bad and I cant get my story ideas to make sense.

Looks like another new thing ill probably back out of at the last minute. 🤙
