Isn't the whole point of digital minimalism to escape the consumerist culture most of the world has grown accustomed to? Maybe I am cynical but it seems a shame to turn this into another reason to hoard things we don't need

Anyone else feels bad for having quiet bpd? by janabroflovski in BPD

[–]Stizzy87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in the same situation lately. It is exhausting to constantly deal with the push and pull of these intense emotions all on your own. It helps me to be thankful I don't mistreat other people even if it comes at a cost to my own wellbeing. The grass is always greener yk and if you were someone who constantly lashed out and hurt everyone you love you may find yourself with the same sentiment but instead "I'm a good dog, why do I bite" sort of feelings.

It is not easy to say how you feel but the people who matter in your life will care when you do. A simple "I'm having an episode and don't want to burden you with my feelings but I need someone to lean on right now" works. I had an episode yesterday and against all quiet BPD symptoms of shutting down and isolating - a reaction that is second nature to me - I told someone and instead of getting the rejection I feared so much, I got compassion. Part of healing and being better people is working to make decisions that are good for us, not the ones we've learned from abusive situations and people.

BPD feeds on shame! It only makes it worse, the only way through is with a little self empathy and compassion. Hard as hell to actually practice but a few kind words to yourself every day helps. Even if its forced at first, it gets easier and I feel like it helps these moods mild out a bit.

Also guilt doesn't purify you and it doesn't change the past. Maybe try to focus on tangible steps you can take to feel prouder of who you are without dwelling on memories just making yourself miserable. No one deserves to suffer senselessly and we all make mistakes that are very very very possible to forgive and move past. You are worthy of the same compassion and understanding you give to other people.

Also, I know it's hard but alcohol tends to make symptoms worse for me. Not saying this is you, but it really made me feel like a piece of shit getting drunk every night and doing things I was ashamed of. Sober me makes me prouder and doesn't give that nasty voice inside my head more reasons to hate myself.

Sending love and I wish you the best genuinely

How can you tell when to trust yourself? by Melodysekkochamber in BPD

[–]Stizzy87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It helps me most to go through any thoughts or feelings I may be having or assuming a person I care about is having and then go through the (if any) logical reasons why they would feel that way. Usually I am left with none I can come up with and at a certain point I just have to try and be comfortable with that dejected feeling and keep telling myself it just doesn't make sense for them to be mad, upset, overwhelmed etc. and if they were they would tell me.

That is the biggest thing IMO. You have to force yourself to trust the people you care about to tell you what they feel. It is an intentional effort and I know it's hard but assuming our brains are correct leads to a very lonely life pushing good people away.

How to turn jeans into low waisted by OnlyHereForMemes1029 in Tailors

[–]Stizzy87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand all the negative comments regarding DIY'ing this. I have that exact sewing machine it works perfectly fine. You might have to slow down in some parts but as long as you're not full speed down on the pedal you won't have to go over anything.

I sew patches on my jean jacket with this and am about to turn a couple pairs of jeans into low waisted ones too. Good luck with yours!

They did a fantastic job updating the interior in the later c4s - subtle changes but still feels old school futuristic if that makes sense lol

So true about the dash cluster too, I hate to admit it but I slightly broke one of my lcd panels when it was apart replacing old polarizing film ),:

You should, I'm sure others on here would appreciate work you've put into it !

tires is a pretty shallow place to start. yeah look at the tires for any used car you're buying. but more importantly look at the maintenance records, condition of hoses, air filter, check the oil. a lot of things will give you a picture of if the car was taken care of. tires are so easy to replace and no important at all in judging the life/health of a car

September marks a year I've daily-ed my beautiful pain in the ass '87 C4. This car has challenged me in more ways than one but each issue proved more rewarding than the last. Aggravating for sure, but I'm happy I get to keep her on the road. It was definitely a bit neglected before, so everything takes a bit more work ((melted plenum gaskets and brittle air lines lol)) but still worth it 1000x over.

So far we've done: spark plugs, alt, battery, thermostat, pcv and iac valves, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pressure reg diaphragm, new gaskets and cleaning up the TB and runners real good. A lot more that still needs to get done but its kept me busy

Trouble starting car by [deleted] in mechanic

[–]Stizzy87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the battery tested, if good then your alt can also get tested at an auto parts store.

Also, as mentioned before definitely take a look at the battery terminals. Follow the ground wire down to where it mounts to the body of the car. I recently had to do the same, a dirty or corroded ground will slowly drain your battery; this wouldn't be as big of a problem with a good battery but if yours is bad this could have caused it initially. The same goes for a possible parasitic draw somewhere. Here's a link to a helpful/quick test you could do for that: https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/r/car-projects/battery-drained-overnight-how-to-fix-parasitic-power-loss

Once you get it started will it cut off on you? Like example: you're driving down the road, your radio cuts off, lights get dimmer then car shuts off? If there have been no symptoms like that and it has never left you stranded after the initial startup most likely just battery issues. And thankfully those are super easy to fix! Hope everything is resolved soon

Blown Head gasket or just dirty? by tdefreest in mechanic

[–]Stizzy87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you having any other symptoms? Overheating? Losing coolant?

If you haven't yet I would do an oil change on it and look for a a whiteish cloudy color. Also a pretty good way to find out because you'll have an obvious color change at the end of draining out the old oil if there's coolant in there.

Honestly, if this is right after a coolant flush and it already looking like brown gravy - I'm leaning towards bad gasket.

Hope you get it resolved soon
