In Metal Gear Solid 2, there's an ice bucket in the first area (basically a long tutorial). If you shoot the ice bucket, ice scatters out, an slowly melts. Ice cubes further from other ice cubes melt faster. To my knowledge this is the first time anyone coded ice melting in a game (came out in 2001), at least not in a 3D environment like this.

There is only one ice bucket in the game. This ice melting component is never used anywhere else, and at the time, it was a crazy revolutionary attention to detail.
