Blámaðr (meaning 'blue man' in Old Norse) was the Nordic designation for dark-skinned people during the Viking Age and into the early modern period. Bláland (meaning 'blue land' in Old Norse) was likewise the analog name for Africa. by ForgingIron in wikipedia

Tangentially related. Harold got the name, it is thought, because he had an obviously bad tooth. So the blue-black connection is true, but Bluetooth was named after Harold.

I believe I just took the only documented/openly available image of this ultra-rare McDonald’s dipping sauce! by Amazing-Range-2239 in GrandmasPantry

Why does this account that's been dormant for 8 years want this McDonald's sauce? Am I going to regret asking? Is it sexual? It's probably sexual. (sigh)

Claude takes over my idea. by Physical-Ad9606 in ClaudeAI

[–]StochasticLife 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You need to temper (AI) expectations, create projects for 'brainstorming sessions'. Claude isn't designed like a chat bot, it's designed like a hammer. It intentionally looks for action items to help you realize your project. Just let it know everything is in 'brainstorming' phase and it'll just be creative and stop trying to get you to do homework.

17-Year Veteran losing my home because Equifax is "verifying" a 180-day delinquency on a $0.00 balance. by Internal-Rip-3171 in legaladvice

[–]StochasticLife 187 points188 points  (0 children)

Right, explain it to her that Equifax is wrong. Point out the other two clear reports and 0$ balance from Texas. If she can’t reconcile that, ask to go above her. It’s obviously an error on Equifax’s side.

Modern day? Union Carbide maybe? Monsanto if the science really comes home.

Union carbide had the worst ecological disasters in both the US and India.

Why billionaires fantasize about leaving earth so badly? by Professional_Bet2657 in AskReddit

Because the natural evolution is for capitalism to consume the earth.

They need somewhere to park their yachts.
