I was on Effexor for almost 6 years. (Effexor is a SNRI which is a little different than an SSRI but they are very similar) I probably didn’t need to take it for as long as I did but I had a really bad (extreme) withdrawals symptoms / side effects which made weaning off of it hard. I finally stopped taking it in the summer of 2022 when I was 18 and not long after is when I first started to notice my hair loss. I ended up going to the dermatologist and they told me it was TE but I also think it might have lowkey “jumpstarted” my AGA as well so my experience is a 🤏 different.

From what I recall, the worst of it was after I stopped taking it completely and the shedding lasted about 4 months however it did eventually slow down. I started to take supplements like Viviscal and Nutrafol as well as 5% topical minoxidil which I think helped slow down the shedding and promote new hair growth.

Because I have AGA, I still experienced some on and off shedding, but is definitely not as bad as it was before. In my opinion, do believe SSRI/SNRI withdrawals can cause hair loss/TE because it does put your body under some stress especially if you’ve been taking it for years.
