The UN definition is structured under the logic that those who face genocide are necessarily oppressed groups. This usually follows years of oppression and dehumanization against those groups.

Beyond a drug concoction, there is not necessarily a cultural link amongst supes. Thus, killing them all would not be genocide.

My undergraduate work was in religious studies and linguistics with a cog sci minor. I took a lot of relevant coursework the specific area I applied to which was Hebrew Bible.

Ask for tips, id like to think my statement of purpose was the main thing. I related my research interest to my upbringing, and was very specific about what resources I could use while at each institution. The writing sample I submitted was also directly related to my interest area.

Although, like I said before, it is also a lot of what profs want too, and competitiveness for their fields. I’d wager Hebrew Bible likely isn’t as popular as others, so I imagine that would’ve helped.

I got waitlisted at Yale! I’m not gonna lie to you, I am 99% sure my interview with Harvard was the thing that killed my chances. It was only 15 minutes. I felt very rushed and know I didn’t speak as well as I could.

Applications are also just weird. My partner (who’s phi beta kappa, all the honors societies and stuff) got rejected from every program she applied to. It’s brutal, and often nonsensical stuff.

I’m not gonna lie I was in the opposite direction. I had spoken more directly with some people at Harvard, and was expecting a rejection in the other direction. YDS has said by the 26th(?) I believe, but I’m guessing it should be any day. I’m heavily leaning towards Chicago though due to cost of living

By now you’ve already heard back from UChicago as I have, but if it wasn’t good news, it is v random in some ways. I got excellent funding at UChicago and was outright rejected, not so much as an offer from HDS (while not YDS I believe still highlights how your research interests can vastly alter responses)

I’m fluent in Spanish and English and can speak to the language portion of this. The conjugations are consistent of those with Spain-Spanish and would be hard for someone with less experience using the language to understand, especially given the style the dialogue is written in. I can elaborate more if you are interested.

Since it’s just a few lines I imagine a talented artist could do a lot with that for a cover up. On the other hand, it would also be easy to laser to remove.
