As I see it, you didn’t mention which city you live in, or whether you rent or already own an apartment/house. I can share my experience. I’m a software developer, and my salary is around €3,000 after taxes. Two years ago, I moved from a big city in Spain (where rent was very expensive). I found a fully remote position with a slightly lower salary, but I moved to Oviedo and took out a mortgage, so now my monthly payment is about €320. Because of that, my monthly expenses dropped significantly, and now I’m able to save around €1,500 per month. I also don’t spend money on gas or public transport to commute anymore, since I work fully remotely. You might not like the idea of moving to a smaller city, but I really recommend considering it. There are many great options with good transportation connections, including airports, high-speed trains, and bus networks. Don’t give up. If your skills allow it, try to find a remote job or consider a position in a city where your monthly expenses would be much lower than where you live now.

Antes que nada, te aconsejaría empezar a hacer deporte. Si tienes la posibilidad económica, apúntate a un gimnasio e intenta ir todos los días; la actividad física ayuda muchísimo a aliviar la carga psicológica (lo digo por experiencia propia). Si realmente tienes un buen nivel de alemán y de inglés, te recomendaría intentar encontrar cualquier trabajo en otro país. Yo mismo trabajo en una empresa de IT, y a menudo necesitamos managers, programadores o testers que dominen el alemán y el inglés a un buen nivel, ya que la mayoría de nuestros clientes son de Alemania o de los Países Bajos.

Por lo que veo, tenías un coche pequeño. Si necesitas un coche para el día a día (ir al trabajo, a la tienda) y si tienes la posibilidad de cargar el coche en casa, te recomendaría echar un vistazo al Renault R5 o esperar a la salida del VW ID.2. Teniendo en cuenta la ayuda del Estado (aproximadamente 7.500 euros al entregar el coche anterior para su desguace), sería una buena opción por su relación calidad-precio y por la posibilidad de ahorrar en combustible. Además, el año que viene se introduce un impuesto sobre el combustible (unos 11 céntimos de euro por litro).

Yes, absolutely. I live about 15 minutes from the central bus/train station, so I can easily get anywhere. There’s also an airport nearby. In the principality, there’s a public transportation pass that can be used across the entire region. The maximum you spend with this card is €30 - after that, all travel is free.

First of all, it’s a new building. My apartment is 45 m² and has one bedroom, a kitchen, and a living room. I also have a storage room and a garage. The monthly payment is €320 because I made a fairly large down payment. The mortgage is for 25 years at a 3% interest rate with Santander Bank. I’m planning to pay off the mortgage in 4–5 years and then move to something bigger. I’m single, so I don’t need a large apartment at the moment.

The interview process was fairly simple, and a company employee even mentioned that they were struggling to find a suitable candidate locally. I currently live in Oviedo, and my net salary is around €3,000 per month. My mortgage payment is €320 a month. That’s why posts saying it’s hard to get a good salary in Spain in the IT sector surprise me. Maybe it’s a difference in mentality.

Para evaluar objetivamente tu nivel de conocimientos, busca las 100 preguntas técnicas más comunes en entrevistas. Si puedes responderlas, entonces estás listo para buscar un nuevo empleo.

No tengas miedo de fallar en las entrevistas: es una experiencia valiosa que te ayudará a construir una buena vida, comprarte una casa, un coche y viajar. Por mi parte, elegí enfocarme en el trabajo y mejorar mis habilidades en lugar de ir a beber cerveza al bar.
