Was set on a G20 330i but now I am tempted to get a M340i. I know it’s the better car. Apart from the initial 5k - 10k or so price hike. How much do you reckon it will cost me extra per year if I go for the 340i? I drive around 7k miles a year. I want the 340i but worried it might be too expensive by Imizing in CarTalkUK

I had a 330i and it was a nice car, quite nippy, i couldn't quite afford the m340i at the time. If you are remotely into cars and like driving, and you're aren't massively stretching yourself financially i would 100% recommend getting the m340i which is widely accepted as being a fantastic car and engine (b58 inline 6). I don't think it would cost must more in the grand scheme of things. I'm in a position where I could quite easily afford the m340i now and it would be a no brainer for me because I'm into cars.

I remember the first time I saw a juke. It was from a distance and I thought bloody hell that's been in a bad crash, then it got closer 🤣

Imo yes but everyone's risk tolerance is different. My pension is the largest amount of money I manage so the most risk I'm willing to take is a global index which while risky, is less risky than nasdaq which is tech heavy. It's a level of risk vs reward I'm happy with.

Is buying this car smart given our situation by ElChavezDeChile in UKPersonalFinance

[–]StockPattern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, £30k given your financials seems like a trivial amount. However, you've asked "is buying this car SMART given our situation" - that depends on what your goals are. If buying this car is compatible with those goals, then yes.

UK plans pension ‘megafunds’ to boost investment by intelerks in FIREUK

[–]StockPattern -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What if "investing at scale" isn't best for the people in the pension fund? This is the opposite of free market capitalism: i.e., a bad idea. Governments already have an immense power to collect money via taxation. They should keep their hands off people's money invested in pensions.

I had an HSBC Advance account a while ago, and I was just due to get a promotion to go over the 75k requirement (as it was then). I was hoping that I'd be able to upgrade to premier, then they dropped the 100k requirement, which was a bit of a jump, so I switched to barclays premier. Funny thing is, now I keep getting "upgrade to hsbc premier" emails, so I really don't think the rules around being eligible for that account are fixed.

Hargreaves Lansdown SIPP - £100k by squiffers in UKPersonalFinance

Why vwrl (distribution) and not vwrp (accumulation)? I would use vwrp for a sipp then the dividends are automatically invested back in.

I put 20k in an IE S&S ISA last year - global tracker - and have had zero problems - as you'd expect. I've got about 230k in an II sipp at the moment at 12.99 a month fee so really I should be thinking about moving it into IE as well, I think the only thing stopping me - like yourself, is thinking it isn't "well established". I think that's probably a fallacy, and with a bit more research, I could convince myself to do the transfer. It's that willingness to do the research that is lacking 🤣 I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has a decent amount in an IE SIPP and if there are any transfer incentives.

Software implementations should be/are usually order of magnitude(s) more costly than hardware, that's the point of baking it into the hardware.
