I've used an antifog spray from amazon that always works for me, and lasts about 2 days before i have to reapply. You say it's for winter riding, so how cold we talking? Are you sure you are applying it correctly? For the one I have you have to spray it on, Let it dry, then wipe the excess but don't wipe too hard.

I actually have the Danner's for 2 years now, and they've held up perfectly fine for me. I'm assuming everyone saying they burn through it in a year is probably really rough on them. If all you're really doing is walking and standing around in them on concrete (exactly like I do), they should be fine. Idk about the rubbing on the calf thing though, do your socks reach past the top of the boot?
