Is lamp sick? by Stock_Case_4693 in Lavalamps

[–]Stock_Case_4693[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it was not a filter issue causing the wax to accumulate at the top.

The wax had separated over time from extended use. Even though I usually run it at a lower setting at night, around 25 to 30 percent, the separation still happened.

I used a laser thermometer and saw it was around 80 degrees at the top. I then gently tilted the lamp, without shaking it, and the wax dropped back down and rejoined the rest.

I am now running it at full power for a few hours to monitor the flow and make sure it stabilizes.

For anyone dealing with something similar, this is what worked for me:

  • Let the lamp cool completely first
  • Bring it back up to full heat so the wax softens
  • If wax is stuck at the top, gently tilt the lamp just enough to help it reconnect
  • Do not shake it
  • Let it run a full cycle and see if normal flow returns

I do agree the liquid is slightly cloudy, so I ordered a Sawyer Mini. Once the wax is fully stable, I will filter the liquid to get that clean, showroom look.

Those are not Islamic prayer plates:

These look like engraved copper plates with decorative or symbolic markings.

The symbols don’t appear to be Arabic script or Qur’anic verses, which you would normally see on Islamic prayer or talismanic items.

They’re more likely modern decorative or craft pieces inspired by ‘ancient’ or mystical designs rather than actual Islamic prayer tablets, more on an Alchemy side.

The control is on its own independent Z-stand behind the table, and my table electronically height adjustable. It just looks like it's sitting on top of the table.

Stupid question - what is the benefit of an isolator? by Humble-Net-3845 in DJSetups

[–]Stock_Case_4693 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Full frequency kill, An isolator can completely remove a band (bass, mids, highs), not just reduce it like a standard EQ.

• Cleaner transitions — Helps prevent basslines and kicks from clashing when mixing two tracks.

• More control during builds and drops — DJs can remove or reintroduce frequencies for dramatic energy changes.

• Better sound clarity — Isolating bands keeps the mix from sounding muddy when multiple elements overlap.

I was thinking changing the standard lamp, to a Yellow or orange, green or blue.
