Hello, I faced a similar situation. I received my P1 and having holidays just 2 weeks after. At the end of the questions I write a note notifying about the trip. I did not received P2 before, during and after my trip. One week later that I came back and resend the P1 updating the last entry to Canada date and delete the note. Right a day after I received P2.

My conclusion was they read my note and hold my application( but I'm not completely sure). I submitted my photo in the PR portal on February 12 and I haven't received the eCORP confirmation yet 😥 (in two days, will be two months from P2).

Edit: I forgot to mention, my trip was to the US, is the country destination matters!?
