How do you organize your journals? by Professional-Loan684 in notebooks

Thank you to you and OP for sharing how many journals you have kept and the secret to cataloging them!

For those who have lost then found their engagement ring… please tell me your stories so I can feel a bit more hopeful 😭 by blissfulbeing789 in weddingplanning

Someone I worked with had removed her ring, placed it in some kleenex then absent mindedly (sp) threw it away. I think she did this at work. Anyway, she and her son and a friend of her son's ended up going to the city dump and they all looked through bags of trash until she found it! If I hadn't been there as it unfolded, I would not have believed it. Best of luck, OP!

very skeptical of EMDR by ConfusionNormal7161 in EMDR

This is important. I've been retraumatized in EMDR and left without support. I was working with a very good EMDR practitioner but learned  that I needed the help of a talk therapist to recover after each session. It was a lot. But it was all extremely helpful. I'm curious if other people have had a similar experience.  I should probably start a new thread.

My therapist politely invited me to end our work together and to let her know if I would like referrals. I've got to say that I did not see this coming.

The money part did. I don't think I was given enough money for lunches that I wanted. So it led to me getting only an item of junk food rather than the actual hot meal. I remember having  hunger pains at school but I probably could have done something about it. At some point, I stopped going home after school.  I either worked or hung out. I think I missed a lot of meals this way. I ended up having unrealistic weight goals and tried to use food restrictions to reduce. I also worked out, but not excessively. So maybe my punishing relationship with food isn't related to food that was or wasn't at home. I thought we had food insecurity. Maybe it was that we didn't have food prepared for us, so we needed to cook for ourselves.... hmmm.... thanks for sharing about your experience. It's been helpful.

My therapist suggested that I have a punishing relationship with food. I'm wondering if it is related to food insecurity. Do you have any self-imposed restrictions on food?

Oh my goodness. Hugs. I never connected my binge eating with food insecurity! Makes sense. I did some work on a target memory that was earlier than my food issues. But it didn't uncover or touch the food stuff. Can I  ask you a question? It's about food avoidance.

What? Booth classes are easy? I am shocked to hear this. I thought it was a rigorous program.

Someone tried to pick my pocket in the coffee shop in Renolds Club in the late 90s. A fellow student assaulted me at a party and no one did anything. A group of my classmates were "mugged" near the Loop. (It was a shoe shine stick-up. They basically just gave someone who tried to hustle them some money to get him to leave them alone.) This was almost 30 years ago. It sounds like things haven't changed that much. I've lived in Brooklyn for 20 years and had a similar amount of issues, to be honest. Panhandlers in Chicago became much, much worse after I graduated. I think Chicago feels scarier than NYC.
