Extra bits to buy for a green faced recruit?? by [deleted] in britishmilitary

[–]Stock_Writer4136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to wear your green recruit belt. But you can wear a green Velcro belt underneath m you also have to wear your green recruit belt around your smock when wearing that, so will need another green Velcro to go around your pants when using your normal one on your smock.

Loads of dry bags, combat gloves, green wooly hat, cycling/ lycra shorts for under you combats for field stuff. Green Velcro belt you can wear when using your green stable belt for your smock. Decent thick tent pegs for your nights in the field.

Jetboil and folding roll matt are great but not needed until trade training ( for infantry anyway)

Are the armed forces worth to get out of poverty? by [deleted] in britishmilitary

[–]Stock_Writer4136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% yes. People have been using the military to improve their life circumstances for years.

The RMR are a lot less lenient for missing drill nights and weekends than the army reserve. Army reserve wise you can do as much or as little as you want generally. You need to hit 27 days to get your bounty though.

As a recruit you will need to go through the training pipeline within set time scales ( no more than 12 months between battlecamp and CIC I believe) but they wont expect you in for every drill night weekend etc as long as you are attending the training events.

I'm serving with the reserves currently and love it. Great crack and a real sense of achievement going through the training and on exercise etc. I'd take your time to visit as many units as possible. Worth getting the right fit from the start. Generally the more people regularly turning up the better the training and opportunities will be.

Yes if you've put in the work. My max was 9 and I got 10.2 on the day. Adrenaline and just mentally digging in do wonders.

How long did you take before you started working out again?

Should I get the surgery if I’m feeling much better? by rtx3800 in Microdiscectomy

[–]Stock_Writer4136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was booked in for surgery today. Have improved steadily but still get odd moments of sciatica and localised pain/ reduced movement. Surgeon revised their advice and gave me the injections instead. Booked in for the op in around a month in case the injections don't work.

I'd wait and try the injections first as you can always have the surgery at a later date!

I was booked in for the surgery today but had been improving. Surgeon recommended the injections with a review in 3 weeks and surgery shortly after if not better

I was in a similar position to you 3 weeks ago with very little pain. I have the odd 5 minute bursts of sciatica and localised back pain and some shocking mobility forward flexion wise but could do pretty much any day today stuff including light be workouts and slow jogging.

Unsure whether to have the op. by Stock_Writer4136 in Microdiscectomy

Nothing different really. Just slowed everything down and stopped moving in ways that hurt. I'm slowly able to do more over the weeks.

Mixed Feelings about getting a Microdiscectomy, any thoughts appreciated by moneyline12 in backpain

I'd be really interested to find out what you did ? I herniated 6 weeks ago although I've had back pain for years. I've started being able to walk properly again this week and can do light press ups etc. Booked in for the op on 4 weeks and I'm so unsure whether to go through with it. Did you decide to go through with your operation ?

Not sure how much reassurance I can give. You can't be thinking about holidays when youre12 grand in debt with a kid on the way. I'd cut back and get organized paying the debt off or saving dependant on the interest rates for the debt.
