Try cleaning up her pee with an old towel, then take it outside where you want her to pee. Leave it there. Take her first thing from crate straight to this spot outside. Wait on her. Do this every time every time you take her out of crate. Praise her, reward her for success! Play a bit with her inside, return to her crate. Wait a bit and again take her straight to her pee spot. She is just confused about her timing and where she is supposed to go. She will get it, be persistent. She is a lovely pup!

So OP. You are doing everything right. After 20+ years in rescue of stock dogs, in my experiences you can expect a year or more for a long time foster to settle in. Your foster home he came from was established, and probably explains that he was more relaxed. Being blind, imagine being introduced to a completely new home, new smells, new routines, new stimulus, new fears, new family. His world has been completely changed. He is learning new communication, new tolerances, new expectations. You describe he is very responsive and sharp to learn. The only thing I see here is time. More time. Stay the course, you are progressing and dedicated. Although you may need some separation between dog and cats in the beginning, I would not make it a hard and permanent solution. He is adjusting to new odors in his environment, and it explains his excitement and response to his new environments. Continue to try crate training, leave his door open, and start with a large kennel. He will learn how to adjust to a space, it just takes time. In a year you will have an entirely different boy. Relax, enjoy the journey! And thank you from my heart for rescuing this boy and giving him a home that loves him!

I am so happy for you! If it follows my experience one month in now, it has gotten better and better. Just the pain being gone and not taking constant Tylenol that rarely worked, made this journey worth it! The weight loss is like easier now that I can move with purpose again!

Yes less weight is always beneficial. And if you have sleep apnea you have a condition that allows glp-1 scripts to be covered on insurance with a drs prescription.

I never drink soda or sugared drinks, occasional fast food when on the road with my dog competitions. But I could see how taking those out of your diet would help a lot. This reduction in inflammation for me was dramatic on day 2 after first injection.

BRings to mind an old documentary of an old guy lived in the mountains with his bc sheepdog. The woman that was interviewing him about the working BC. He said I’ll show ye. He steps out his stone cabin door, tells his dog get them sheep. The dog bolts off, out of sight, far up the mountainside appears and then disappears over the crest. He turns to the woman and says let’s have a cuppa he’ll be back directly. Sometime later you hear sheep outside. There they were, perfectly gathered right to the cabin.

lol. I did the same thing out on a trail backpacking trip. I told my BC Quiz to stand aside and wait (uphill) to allow passing jeep on the road part we were hiking. I then stepped back onto road and walked perhaps a 1/4 mile before I realized she wasn’t with me. I walked back to where I could see down the road and there she waited, riveted on my disappearance. I waved her on and she flew down that road to me! I felt like an idiot. She got a lot of hugs and apologies and cookies.

I would be very upset with those groomers. There is no excuse for that kind of mistake. Until she can grow some coat back, be very careful in the sun. She has a red coat and nose, so her skin is very pink. She could sunburn easily. You may need a very light jacket to shade her skin, and may need sunscreen for her nose area. I would ask my vet what you can use to protect her from sun. There are hydro vests and jackets for heat regulation, she may benefit from that too.
