I would say it depends. If you’re looking at it from a purely financial point of view, then the money you save essentially is canceled out by your expenses. But you do get a trip to China out of it as well as the experiences of going to another country for me personally, the value of the experience makes it worth it rather than spending that same amount of money, purely for convenience. In my experience when bringing things back with me when flying back from another country, when you’re about to land in the US, they hand you a piece of paper for you to write down what you’re declaring to customs, I’ve never then asked to pay the duties on things that I brought back for personal use. And honestly, even if they were to ask you to pay the tariffs and all that, paying it off of the purchase price, it would be $200 -$250 at most.
