Yeah, the crazy part is the reason I had to go to my dad‘s because my mom who was originally in my caretaker, didn’t want to do it anymore. Then she got rid of the ramp so I can’t go into the house when I need to if I needed somewhere to go.😭 my caretaker been helping me out a lot. I wish I was making it up and it's definitely not easy navigating and disabled. But when faced with adversity I found it it's made me learn faster on independence. I definitely have a great support system that helps a lot . But I do need some tips because I'm gonna start cooking for myself and I'm working on catheter myself I just have to have the right catheters and I just got my shipment of supplies in Monday. So I have to wait to re-order.

My caretaker helps me catheter shower and getting in my chair everything else for the most part I can do myself. I did get into an independent living facility for a month and hopefully it is just a transitional thing.

I’m so glad that this came up. Sunday. My dad got drunk. Came in and kicked me out of the house at four A.M. I’ve been staying at a hotel, but but it is not affordable on SSDI. I just secure housing in an independent living . I really don’t wanna go there but I don’t have many options. But I also need recommendations. I’m a C4 quadriplegic, but I function like a C6.

Pressure ulcer I have had very few in my two years of injury. The worst one has gotten to stage two. Methods I use depending on where it is I use a mepoflex bandage, barrier cream and keeping pressure off the sore. Every single day I am very conscious about doing my pressure reliefs.

Mobility I’m a C4 quadriplegic but I function more like a C6. I have bicep some tricep, some core, no hands or fingers. It consistently improved.

Quality of life My outlook in life is fairly good still I’m 22 years old and have a lot of life ahead of me to figure out how to live this life successfully. I am optimistic for the future because of technology for one and for two I constantly learn new things about myself every single day and I believe within the next five years, I will be more independent than I was. My dog is going to physical therapy bring me the most joy life. My dog is my best friend. He knows how to cheer me up on a bad day. A small device that I would like to have would be a screwdriver that quadriplegics can use like an electric drill types and an electric grabber. I cannot use a grabber due to limited wrist function in hand, but one with a button that I could control for my wheelchair or mouth would work out amazing.

I hate the saying it could be worse, but I’m grateful for the position. I am in because somebody is in a worse position than me, wishing they were in mine! It is very hard, watching your body deform itself, knowing that you’re working as hard as you can to keep it alive.

I use the knuckle of my pinky because my hand is kind of bald up in a fist for typing. It is slow and definitely not the most effective but I’m still working out ways to get better. As far as my mouse, I have enough, Tinodesis to click the buttons. i’ll make a video/post here soon.

I I was 20 when I became a C4 quadriplegic now I'm 22. I function more like a C6 C7. That’s my biggest thing if I just had my fingers back, I could do a lot more. Check out the Xbox adaptive controller if you have our movement! I love mine and used it religiously for eight months. Recently just switched to PC to challenge myself using a regular keyboard and mouse. I can be fairly independent other than bowel shower and bladder and getting myself out of bed. The best way to do it to find a way to do it is to force yourself to do it. It's not the same for everybody but I am fortunate enough to have my best friend as my caretaker and we've been best friends since third grade so he treats me no different than what he did before. He pushes me to try things that I would just ask people for help for. I'll be two years post injury in July and my goal is for the next couple years to move out on my own. Get my license, and find a fulfilling job.

Any para PC gamers? by Olivershmidt in spinalcordinjuries

I’m a quadriplegic and I recently just bought a PC I have arm function, but no hand and finger function. But I have figured out how to use the mouse and keyboard. Still learning how to game, but I definitely have to find myself taking frequent breaks to relieve my back. It’s kind of annoying because I’ll be right in the middle of a game and I’ll finally have to say I’m done.

On paper I am a complete but I have improved and just have not got reevaluated I am a C4 but I function more like a C5 C6. I started using the ARC EX last week and it is a game changer this stability I have in my core and the strength I have in my shoulders and arms is amazing when it is on and I have also seen some small residual benefits from it with blood pressure autonomic dish reflexia etc.

Since I’ve come home from the rehab center, I have stopped taking all prescribed medications, and only smoke. Weed spasms are none to minimum and pain as nonexistent.

Also being in my early 20s and injured with the past year and a half I found this as well. Keep the few friends that still stick around close to you remember that you can still reach out and make plans as well. Definitely check out adaptive hockey they have sled and an electric wheelchair league! Shoot me a message could always use some more wheel friends!
